Adult Education Wolverhampton

Fantastic experience: I’ve been attending Adult Education for last 6 months. I started off very nervous and didn’t know what to expect but I’ve actually enjoyed my time there, so far all the teachers, receptionist are lovely and I’ve learnt so much in the past 6 months

Negative experience: This is the second year in a row that I have tried to get on a course, last year they left it until the last minute to contact me, so I unfortunately couldn’t get a placement for the course. So this year I applied early again and didn’t hear from anyone until late again, I was left a voicemail with we will call you back, this didn’t happen, I have sent numerous emails to no reply. It’s safe to say I will not be trying again absolute shambles, don’t waste your time. I will now have to wait another year to apply at the college instead.

Fantastic experience: Good education system nice and helpful staff and teachers very caring and helpful.

Fantastic experience: I enjoy coming to Adult Education Wolverhampton because the Life skills courses help me with my confidence, communication and my anxiety which is a major battle for me. AEW also gives me structure and routine which is something I'd be lost without. The courses that I've been doing this year are the following: Digital Skills with Kath Jones, Everyday life skills with Sue Chand, Maths with Alison Tait and Cooking with Elaine. I have enjoyed these course because I have learned a lot of new skills. The support staff and tutors are really knowledgeable and supportive and always go beyond and above not only for myself but for all students. I can't thank thank the support staff and tutors enough for all they do. There's one Life Skills/Like Minds tutor that I'd particularly like to give a special mention to and that is Katherine Jones because Kath is someone that all students can trust, she listens, she goes beyond and above, she makes everyone feel safe, comfortable and I very much feel that Katherine Jones really does deserve some kind of special award or to be nominated for one. I can't recommend the Life Skills courses enough.

Fantastic experience: My daughter emsy loves her Tuesdays group with Cecile with her arts and crafts,she also loves cooking on a Wednesday afternoon, but would love her to start ict on her new day of next term please, she has come on leaps and bounds with her arts and would love to carry on please in September

Fantastic experience: I been studying at this college since 15th November 2022, I started out as someone very anxious and unconfident, as anxiety was a major battle for me. The students, the staff, the teaching assistants, are all so lovely. Lovely as friends! Doing Life Skills courses with Kath, Michelle, and Elaine throughout 2022-2023 got me to start learning and become brave. I became part of Supported Internship’s with September 2023, but then I felt inspired to becoming a teaching assistant thanks to Claire and Siobhan as the course’s own teaching assistants. There was some problems with the college too, but then it was no such problem, it got resolved quickly by the appropriate staff for the job! Adult Education Wolverhampton is such a wonderful place to be apart of, it’s lost all my anxiety and made me feel more confident, brave, happier!

Fantastic experience: I enjoy coming to Adult Education Wolverhampton because the Life skills courses have helped me with confidence.. The courses that im doing are the following, Supported employment, everydayife skills and cooking. I have enjoyed these course because the skills i learn I will be able take forward into my future goals. The support staff and teachers are really knowledgeable and supportive.

Fantastic experience: I love doing cooking because it helps me to cook at home. I love all the support workers because they help with my learning. I enjoy coming to college because I have made new friends and I feel included.

Positive experience: I really enjoy my college corse at adult education. I enjoy going to the multings on Tuesday. The reason for the 4 stars is because I dont like the fact my class has moved from the multings to old hall street. I prefer to be at the multings. Im not happy at all with the new location. I prefer Herbert Street better. But my 4 stars are for the adult education at the multings

Fantastic experience: I have been coming to adult education for years doing cooking and business administration. All the teachers are friendly and helpful.The college is a great place to come.

Fantastic experience: My special needs son attends a life skills cookery class and really enjoys it, he is building up a cookery book that is all visual as he cannot read.

Fantastic experience: I like coming to AEW everybody is very helpful everyone shows respect to each other and I feel as though I can talk to tutors or support workers

Fantastic experience: I really enjoy all my courses at Adult Education. My teachers, Cecile and Alison are great. I am supported well by Siobhan and Claire and I know I am safe when I am in college. I am respected and listened to. I have learnt a lot in all of my classes and this has helped me to become more independent. I have also made lots of friends in my classes.

Fantastic experience: I like my Life Skills classes at Adult Education Wolverhampton because they help me to gain more independence. In all of my classes ( Craft, cookery, maths, ITC) ,I have made new friends and I like all of the teachers. They are very helpful and supportive . In all our classes, we have support workers and they are all very friendly and supportive. We also have a lot of fun in our classes.I highly recommend our Life Skills courses.

Fantastic experience: I love coming to Adult Education Wolverhampton to learn new skills .I am doing a craft course, maths and English, and cookery.Learning with AEW helps me to get more independent. I also meet new friends too .All my classes are Life Skills. The teachers are challenging in a good way to help me progress and improve. The support workers like Siobhan are very good at supporting me when I am struggling.I will recommend to all my friends to enrol at Adult Education Wolverhampton.

Fantastic experience: I enjoy my cooking course with Cecile at Wolverhampton Adult Education and I like my Friday class (craft) with Elaine.I am learning new skills and it helps me with my confidence. There is a friendly atmosphere. It is great.

Fantastic experience: Adult Education Wolverhampton is helping me to reach my goals of becoming more independent . I am doing English, Support to Employment, Ict, Maths and Cooking. The classes are helping me improve my self confidence. My teachers and the Support Staff are supportive and caring.I have also made new friends through my courses . If anyone wants to learn new skills then I recommend that you enrol at Adult Education Wolverhampton.

Fantastic experience: I like all the support workers and my teachers (Juliet,Cecile,Claire,Siobhan , Sophie and Alison ). I really enjoy coming to Adult Education Wolverhampton. I have also made some new good friends like Hayley, Stacey and Becks, who made me feel welcome and it’s a safe place to come and I would highly recommend it to other people.

Fantastic experience: I am learning to cook that help me to cook better, healthier and different dishes at home. I have made new friends. I am also learning crafting and making new things in my class on Tuesdays. Learning Life Skills is helping me to get better and more independent in my life outside the class.

Negative experience: I wish I did not had to review about Adult Education Wolverhampton but they have discrimination me under the equality act 2010. I had be going to them for a few years now and had enjoy going and most of the staff and teacher are lovely and want to go the extra mile to help but all change over the last months as I have had in letter for further support then they false claim against me and do not want me back and do not want to gave me another change. I had love going they and enjoy it every minute of it and they are some teacher how are willing to go the extra mile to help you but some do not understand and not willing to listen to my side of the story or put the support in place. I have gave Adult Education Wolverhampton every option to put this right and I was on my last year with them and want to put a lovely and better review on this but sadly this not the matter now. If you got a problem nowadays with Adult Education Wolverhampton they are unwilling to help and put this right and support the student how got a disability.

Fantastic experience: I just wana sayy a massive thank you to Angela brown for making me psss my maths GCSE i have always struggled with maths and sat 2 exams before and couldn't pass but with Angela's teaching iv passed!! Definitely recommend anyone doing maths GCSE at this college ask for Angela brown! Yoi definitely smash it if you work with her.

Negative experience: I am highly disappointed in the adult college. I've recently completed my level 3 BSL introduction course ready to start my level 3 BSL course and they have cancelled my class. They did not inform me till the day I completed my introduction stating the week before they may have to cancel my class due to numbers. This is a huge disappointment as people in my class ,me included, can not go to the day class due to being teachers themselves and working in schools. I feel as though they have no regard to the fact some adults work during the day (9 to 5) and only care about numbers. My tutor for the course is fantastic and a wonderful teacher and I have nothing but praise to give to her which is the only redeeming quality in this situation. The BSL act recently got passed in Parliament giving more access to the Deaf Community and then the adult college closes one of it's classes due to numbers. This is we're the problem lies in Hearing institutions.

Negative experience: Very shocking some of the staff are so rude and off putting and the building it self is falling apart or some areas don't have heating it's poorly run and not very well looked after I wouldn't recommend this place to any one wanting to progress there future rude staff steer clear

Positive experience: Some members of staff are OK but the other not very friendly and still good places to learn

Negative experience: I worked for AES for 3.5 years on a 0 hour contract. Despite my constant pleas for stability, I wasn't offered a fixed hour contract until the day I handed in my resignation. In my role as a peripetetic tutor, I was required to use my own vehicle. I was not allowed to claim mileage expences. Nor was I able to claim expenses for the equipment that I was supposed to supply. The management of the courses I delivered was pathetic. As a zero hour worker, I was reliant on additional agency work to top up my ever unpredictable wages. I often turned down agency work due to previous commitments with AES, only to drive my own vehicle to a training room, and find out the the course had in fact, been cancelled. Only management had forgot to tell me. Again, I was not able to reclaim mileage expens s, so would be left without a day's pay, and without fuel. Additionally to this, in 3.5 years, I was not allowed to take a single day of holiday pay. I have since discovered that this is iplegal and 0 hours workers accrue holiday pay the same as any other worker. I have questioned this with AES since resigning, and was ignored

Fantastic experience: I am very fortunate to be a student at aew because l met lovely, wonderful and understanding teachers that are ready to teach you until you understand What they are teaching you. For that I find myself lucky to be there.

Positive experience: Overall a good college, with committed staff that really want you to win. Diverse range of tutors and students make it a great place to learn

Fantastic experience: I am very privileged to study at the Adult Education College. And now, I am fully qualified as L 3 teacher assistant. The college is a great platform for anyone who wants to continue studying. The college provides a great opportunity for everyone with individual needs to succeed. They have friendly staff and amazing service.

Fantastic experience: I've been studying at AEW for more than 3 years and I always had an excellent learning experience and support. It gave me the opportunity to grow, it opened new doors to get involved in the community and to progress to higher education and also to have better job prospects. For everyone out there, take the step and look through the variety of courses that AEW has to offer and make a change in your life. Take the best from the courses and apply it in your life, things will come to you because knowledge is empowering.

Negative experience: Signed up last year with the adult education centre and went for an initial assessment to say it was a waste of time is an understatement why invite someone in only to tell them that you have places next September ?

Negative experience: This company claim they provide a vast amount of courses when in reality they dont have enough students to make a class. I looked on their website weeks ago for start dates on mentoring courses where I had to email expressing my interest; i got a reply stating that i would need to come to the open day. So why was it that when I attended i was made to wait over an hour just to be told there aren’t any mentoring courses? So explained i was told to attend via email then i was told if i wanted to be on the course I would have to be on a placement first. I said that was highly possible for me to do that then was told that the chances are there wont be enough students to run a course. What was the need for the initial misinformation on the website. Or does it benefit them to get as many names to sign up on open day so they can manipulate statistics? Why didnt they just email me stating there are no mentoring courses instead of wasting my time? Its enterprise like this which continues to make Wolverhampton appear as a town not a city.

Fantastic experience: Professional services. You can really learn something here. Teachers are on very high level.

Negative experience: Time wasters, no respect to students, just robes the money. If you have a choose DO NOT GO THERE

Positive experience: Go to this place to fever you education a member of my family studied here and passed . Now they teaching

Negative experience: DON'T use the college!!!! it has a award from ofsted but it doesn't reflect the style of teaching. The so called teachers have not got QTS and are just regular people. Most of the Maths teachers there have not even got a GCSE in maths and are taught in the same class as the students!!! Even when in the class room the lessons are not constructed properly and the classes often end early. Although, after I complained two months later I was given one on one support by a tutor who was amazing and should have been teaching the GCSE class. After getting a D in GCSE a resit was offered in November, to which I had been calling since August to find out about, I must have called at least 15 times to find the date had passed and I could no longer do the resit and they now want me to pay to do the resit. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COLLEGE. I know for older students it off putting using Wolverhampton college because of the younger age groups BUT its a much better College and things are done correctly. Please consider Wolverhampton city college especially if you're doing an access course!! that's another story.
