Fantastic experience: In short, Studio Cambridge is the best choice you can make in Cambridge. It deserves far more praise! I visited and compared four well-known language schools in the city, and from first impression to the very end, Studio Cambridge stood out as the best option. I am a Korean in early 30s, who moved to Cambridge in the summer of 2024. Unlike many students, I had already graduated from university and spent years in my professional field. My initial motivation was simple: “If I’m living in the UK, why not learn more about the culture and improve my British English properly?” From my first visit, Studio Cambridge felt different. Luke, the Sales Manager, kindly showed me around and answered all my questions with warmth and professionalism. That welcoming first impression truly marked the beginning of my long and meaningful journey here. Thank you, Luke ;) At the very first class, I could tell the quality was exceptional. As an adult learner, I was impressed by how the teachers went beyond teaching “English” and added British culture and real-life usage into their lessons. I started with General English course, but soon with teachers’ and classmates’ encouragement, I joined the CAE (Cambridge Advanced English) exam preparation course, which I didn’t even know what it was. To my surprise and pride, I passed with a score above my target level. It was truly all thanks to my teachers. That moment of achievement really inspired me. Making new friends as an adult in a foreign country is never easy, yet at Studio Cambridge it’s easy. People with different ages and nationalities became genuine friends, and we are still in touch across the world. This experience made my time here incredibly special. Above all, the teachers I met - Phil, Danielle, Amanda, Gail, Mandi, Mair, and Melanie ♥ - supported my growth with real love and encouragement. I also want to thank the office staff who always prioritise students’ wellbeing (Mohamed is the best♥) and the kind canteen staff who made everyday school life even warmer. Even though it took me over 1 hour to school every day, I never regretted choosing Studio Cambridge. Believe me. This school deserves far more praise. Thank you, Studio Cambridge! Love, Nunu

Fantastic experience: My son attended your two-week course in the summer. He loved the city, the school and the student residence. It was wonderful that there was so much choice at mealtimes and breakfast. Positive experience: I was here, 2008

Negative experience: I am shocked by how badly student welfare was handled. I travelled from Studio Cambridge to London while recovering from gastroenteritis caused by two weeks of barely nutritious food (mostly canned). In London, I was in severe stomach pain, crying, yet the supervisors — who clearly had no first‑aid training — refused to let me use a bathroom until we entered a museum. Even after my parents and the staff in Cambridge told them I needed two 500 mg paracetamol, they only gave me one, claiming they had nothing else. This is unacceptable. Basic health and dignity were ignored, and it shows a complete lack of preparation and responsibility. I cannot recommend this experience to anyone

Negative experience: Accommodation & Facilities The accommodation was generally comfortable, but some shared bathrooms and rooms could have been cleaner. It would also be helpful to have more space for storing clothes or drying wet laundry. Food The food could be improved in terms of variety, especially for students with dietary restrictions. On some days, the meals were repetitive or served cold. Lessons & Teachers The lessons were interesting, but at times the level felt too easy for my abilities. I would have appreciated more speaking practice and interactive activities during classes. Staff & Monitors While many staff members were helpful, some monitors could have been more attentive and quicker in dealing with student concerns. In a few cases, situations involving student discomfort were not taken seriously enough. Activities & Excursions The activities were enjoyable, but some felt disorganized or lacked variety. Excursions were exciting, but sometimes the time spent traveling was too long compared to the time available at the destination. Health & Safety There should be a clearer protocol when students are unwell. More attention and support from staff would be appreciated when a student is sick and unable to travel. Communication Better communication with parents and schools would be beneficial, especially in health-related situations or when there are unexpected changes in the schedule. Suggestions for Improvement • Create a space where students can dry wet clothes or access laundry facilities with dryers. • Provide more free time for students to rest or choose their own activities. • Take student well-being more seriously, particularly when they are unwell or need emotional support.

Fantastic experience: Back in 1991, I spent three unforgettable months immersed in the world of English. Even after all these years, those days as a language student still hold a special place in my heart. I vividly recall the thrill of rushing with my classmates from all corners of the globe – Brazil, Argentina, Turkey, Japan, and Russia – to the local Pizza Hut near Parker's Piece. And who could forget the leisurely punting trips along the River Cam on weekends, the cool breeze and the serene beauty of the river creating a perfect escape. One of the highlights of my life was returning to my old school with my wife during our honeymoon. While the experience wasn't quite as warm and welcoming as I had hoped, it still held a special significance. To this day, I dream of revisiting the school with my children, reliving those cherished memories and creating new ones.

Fantastic experience: Oldest language school in Cambridge, dedicated and friendly, quirky too.

Positive experience: nice

Negative experience: My 2 kids are just back from Sir Michael (July 2024). While it has been a great experience for one of them, unfortunately the other one was not so lucky. Harassment from other teammates, physical threatening, insults have been a daily experience during his second week of stay. There has been 2 bigger incidents around 11pm (when my kid was locked down in his bedroom to escape from the assailants) where we had to call the emergency number to ensure someone would check on these kids (supposed to be on bed in their room). After first emergency call on Tuesday night, we did not hear from anyone from Studio Cambridge admin. When we called the second time on Friday evening, someone came immediately to witness what happened and my son was put on a different group vs. the assailants for the Saturday day visit. When we picked up our son on his last Sunday, we were also shared the video of the second incident occurring in the residence (yes, because when you harass someone, it is very funny to record it and share with the full group!). We decided to share immediately that video with the admin team of Studio Cambridge. Outcome: We got immediate excuses by email from the sales director, who mentionned that the parents of those involved would be contacted; disciplinary measures would be imposed and "thanks" to this bad experience, the patrols of the corridors in the residence would be reviewed. The 2 star is hence because beyond learning English, we want our kids to be safe (whether in or out of the Studio Cambridge residences), we count on the staff to supervise them, and when issues occur, we expect some follow-up and communications with the parents (as we also spent an awful week being worried at home). This is a must! and it did not work properly during the stay of our son. On the positive side, when there is no assailants, the experience could be great! Great teachers and activities! Great food including accomodations to special dietary requirements! Great bedrooms where kids have their own bathroom (including toilets and shower). We are also confident that our experience, shared with the admin team, has helped for immediate process improvement to avoid similar issues in the future.

Fantastic experience: I studied in Studio Cambridge during the summer of 2014. It was an amazing experience thanks to the teachers and friends I met during my staying in Cambridge. It’s been a while know, but I have fond memories related to my experience in this school!

Fantastic experience: Mi hijo ha estado este año en Studio Cambridge de campus y ha venido encantado con la experiencia. Todo resultó tal y como nos lo explicaron. Clases dinamicas,alojamiento individual y perfecto. Antes de marchar teniamos toda la informacion explicada de manera correcta y concisa. El nivel lo adaptan a cada alumno con test previo pero que ,una vez allí,modifican si el alumno no se siente cómodo. La recogida en el aeropuerto por parte del equipo fue puntual y en todo momento se preocuparon porque la experiencia fuera de 10 . A mejorar,quizas,la variedad de platos en las comidas. Sin duda volveriamos a repetir la experiencia

Fantastic experience: Back in July 1990 I attended English summer courses at the Studio School of English in Cambridge. I learnt a lot. I took lessons in a building somewhere near Green St, a small dead end square where you could park your bike. I don’t know exactly where it was but I guess nowadays you have to turn left after passing Knoops Chocolates, 28, Green St., to access that square. Please can you help? Thank you very much indeed. Positive experience: very nice place!! but also: if you're on time for lunch time, that means you're late. when there's too many people, you get a loong line and cold food. and the people after you get the new hot food. so. that's not so nice. and, if you want to practice your accent/how you speak english, it might get difficult if you go there as a big group as most of your classmates will be from your group.

Fantastic experience: I worked at Studio Cambridge for two summer placements in 2018 and 2019. It was a great experience and I gained many skills in training younger learners. I am a specialist with adults and teaching Business English. But, I wanted to gain some experience in training younger students. It was very challenging for me to teach younger learners. But at Studio Cambridge, the staff were quite helpful. They were supportive and gave me the chance to develop my skills. I taught classes for students who were aged from 14 - 19 years old. It was a successful experience with positive feedback. After many years of being an adult specialist, I can now train younger learners too. I now feel much more confident with teaching teenagers and especially high-school students from 16 - 19 years old. I would recommend Studio Cambridge to any teacher who would like to gain more practical experience.

Positive experience: Ich war hier im Rahmen meines Studiums. Die Dozenten waren freundlich. Leider war aber das gesamte Programm sehr unübersichtlich. Meine Gruppe wurde nach undurchsichtigen Kriterien in verschiedene Klassen eingeteilt. Das Essen hier in der Kantine war nicht gut.

Fantastic experience: So I was at Cambridge Studio last week (16-18) and it was one of the best experiences of my life So let's start with classes: There's 2 types: Intensive and Regular If you chose regular, you will only have classes in the morning or in the afternoon. Pros: If you want to enjoy the activities, and be able to socialize more and see the city and not only focus on going to classes this is the one for you. You will still be learning and improving your English you will just be doing it by talking with other people . Now if you have already been to Cambridge and your solo purpose there is to learn English as much as you can go to Intensive. You will have free time after dinner so you can chill out then . I thought about choosing intensive but I'm glad I decided to stick with regular. I was already very satisfied with my level of English so maybe that was one of the factores and that gave me the opportunity to do activities that I wouldn't have done if I was in intensive Classes and teachers are great. I did learn some new vocabulary and that was my goal. I have to say. Classes in the afternoon were a lil bit exhausting for me just because after lunch, my capacity of focusing is not the same as in the morning and 1.30 pm to 5.30pm feels like it's forever. But that's me! I'm more productive in the morning. The classes in the afternoon were amazing too thou, I was just a lil bit more sleepy. Another thing is, don't expect miracles. I was talking to other student and she said that she didn't learned anything new. Ofc she did, but she only stayed there for one week. That means 5 days of classes in which Monday is the evaluation day. So if you're a beginner don't expect to come out in a Advance level if you're staying there for a short period. Activities: they are actually pretty nice! I loved to go Punting with my friends. It was so awesome cause nobody knew how to sail so we were laughing the whole time Tea party in my opinion needs to improved. I was thinking we would have a huge diversity of teas to try from and different cakes so it was a lil bit disappointing. One cake and one tea cup, I mean I can do that by myself. So definitely re think this one and don't forget.. Add also several vegan options and not just one. You do get a lot of activities to choose from per day especially in the afternoon but I'm mean I feel like if I had stayed there for 3 weeks (so one more week) they would start being repetitive. Excursions: Loved them. Just wished it hadn't felt like I wasn't running all the time. " it's better to travel well than to arrive" . I get that we had limited time but because you were trying to show us a 1000 things in one second in different parts of the city we couldn't really enjoy the city itself and the places where we were stopping, because we were always running around. STAFF: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I'm going to give them 6 stars cause 5 it's not enough. They were absolutely incredible and so nice. You couldn't have selected a better group to be at Sir Christopher this year. You could see that they cared so much about the students and that they were always making sure that you were having the best time. Even thou they were ' above me' I felt like I was hanging out with my friends. In the common room they would play board games with us, sing with us and I think that's what makes an experience memorable. They were able to keep the order without being bossy and that's what you want. You want someone that is able to create a good relationship with the students and they did that. One of them even helped me save a spider ( no killing) and as an animal lover that made me so happy, even thou he didn't have to do it. I actually got to also seat down with some of them and actually talk to them a lil bit and some of them have such amazing goals in life. We would also laugh a lot. Again it was that friend to friend relationship. That is what is all about. They all deserve a bonus! I don't know how it was in the other campus but if you could replicate this same team every year in every campus it would be perfect. So if u can GO!

Fantastic experience: I was here eight years ago for English program. I gotta say great times. We have Spanish Russia Italian German folks in my class. Which I can know other country’s stuffs during the program. That will improve ur English fast. I bought the weekly lunch tickets . Usually grab a sandwich and a bag of chips. And it’s just downstairs. Pretty convenient. The studio got a tons of activity after the English lecture. The hold party’s at some nights. The rent a Indoor basketball court so you can hoop with your friend. And the best part is punting. The studio actually gave us boats for like an hour. So we can cruise around the river with friends. I want punting every week. Btw do not take the boat that comes with wood sticks. Cuz it’s super heavy. The teachers are awesome and the principal really take care of students problem. Due to my home stay issue ,I was told that I’m the first Taiwanese exchange that Got kick out from the home stay family. They swapped me to the school dorm. Which is even better lol. They offer better breakfast and more private space. I mean my buddy said his home stay offers him pancakes sandwiches for breakfast and they’re house got free WiFi. But lucky me. I got cereal every morning. bruhhhhh. ......... And I got to buy my own internet deal which cost me 40pounds. The school Said the host should do my laundry twice a week. But my host insists once a week and if I want extra laundry I’ll have to pay her five pounds. I still remember her address it’s on birdwood RD 120~125 somewhere. You know the place. You should really evaluate the host cuz some of them aren’t capable of hosting. Btw she actually take money from my house key deposit. It was 30p but she only give me 25p back at the end. She said it’s the laundry fee. WOW. What a @?!@ For the record I used to have a roommate that got in the same program in the studio. He can’t stand the host and they had an argument more like a fight and he move to school dorm like a two weeks before me. Over all the school is super good. Hosts Hmmmm my classmates host is lit. But mine....lol. you know the story.

Fantastic experience: We have been training students from our local town there for three years. We go every January and the experience is great. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The students love the classes, the teachers are very good and they also have the opportunity to go sightseeing and Share with their host families.

Fantastic experience: When my brother and I arrived in Reading, I didn’t want to stay at the camp for two weeks but when the teachers showed us the camp i thought that it could be fun. I also made new friends very quickly. On the second day we had to complete a test, which showed our English skills. The next day were only games and talking in groups. We also had a few activities for example football, baskrtball and art classes… Every week there was a disco that was pretty fun and you had the opportunity to get to know new people that you didn’t speak to before. We also had a talent show in the first week. The last day was very sad for me because I had to say goodbye to my friends. In the eveming we watched a film and some people left the camp after that movie. I would totally recommend that camp because you can really improve your English and you make new friends and you have a good time!

Negative experience: Pour ce que ça promettait, y'a de quoi être déçu. les activités sont lourdes et sans intérêt à 2 exceptions. Les cours sont inintéressant. Le staff est plutôt sympa mais certains devraient apprendre à garder le secret professionnel. Faudrait qu'ils apprennent aux élèves de se mélanger parce que tout le monde est fermé. For what that promised, it must to be disappointed there. The activities are heavy and without interest to 2 exceptions. lessons sucks and are uninteresting. The staff is rather nice but some people should learn to keep the professional secret. Would need that they teach to the pupils to mix because everybody is closed.

Negative experience: They don’t focus on your learning. In my opinion if you want to improve your English, this is the wrong place.

Negative experience: Yesterday, I had an awful experience there. I forgot one standard consent letter at home and when I got there, they didn't allow me to do my exam. None of them helped me to solve the problem. By myself I had to go to city center in order to find any shop which had a printer, but it was impossible in 30 minutes. When I came back, I ask them to lodge a claim, but I could not do that because they didn't have any type of claim form available. I cannot believe as such a academic center doesn't have any printer, PC, or that letter which doesn't have any personal information. People work hard to get that certification, but for them it's only business or money. Sometimes things happens, I think they have to be ready for that inconvenient. I had forgotten my Passport or ID Card, I would have understood, but for one simple letter that they could have had available, it's crazy!!! They did not behave as profesional. I really felt alone all the time. I was treated appallingly.

Positive experience: This school trip was very well organized. I've been accomodate in a nice family , and with lessons i've corrected many prononciation faults and grammar faults. the food was not so bad, and i've never been bored with the activities. My favourite activity has been the visit to fizwilliam museum, where i've seen so many medieval weapons and beautiful pictures.

Fantastic experience: I accompanied a group of 56 students to this school for a week and was very impressed. The students enjoyed their lessons, felt very welcome in their host families and enjoyed the independence of travelling around Cambridge on their own and exploring the city. The afternoon activities were interesting and the punting and the Fitzwilliam Museum were the favourites. Would perhaps have liked to visit some of the colleges and their chapels. The staff at Studio Cambridge were most helpful and nothing was too much trouble. A special thanks to Guy Trussel who did everything to make our stay as enjoyable and hassle free as possible.

Positive experience: It has been a great experience. During the week we had the possibility to improve our English. The teacher was very nice and he helped us a lot. The activities were very funny and it has been a great time. The places that I discovered will certainly bring me back to Cambridge.

Fantastic experience: I had been learning English here in 2006 to 2007, and it was the best school I've ever had in my whole life. Improvement is not just a simple thing like you can get sth from a store. You need to try to get it. Learning other languages is not a piece of cake.

Negative experience: Sending my daughter to Studio Cambridge has been one my worst decisions. To start with, the english lesson take only 4 hours a day and the rest of the day is a lost time (no activities, no control) But the worst started when my daughter decided to left the residence 4 days before the agreeded. They left her alone at the airport and as unfortunately she missed the flight she had to move alone again to other airport (3 hours far from the first) and waiting the new flight for 3 more hours. All this being minor of age (16 years old) and in a foreing country. I don't recommend this residence at all.
