Gloucester Academy: Reviews
Positive experience: The school is good
Negative experience: I hate it it's just like dress to impress u just care about the out and don't care about anything else
Fantastic experience: Cool
Positive experience: My son attended this school and he made it, I think it is the duty of parents to teach their children morals and how to behave outside. The teachers can only try their best and can't force any child to behave well at school. When a parent has failed at home and now trying to push the work to the teacher then what do you expect the teacher to do.
Negative experience: this school actual sucks so bad, they care more about ur uniform than ur education the teachers say that every student expresses themselves but how can we express ourselves if we arent allowed to have silly nose studs or coloured hair? this school is pathetic there isnt any teachers in the classrooms to support some1 if their struggling and the teacher never really helps u with the lesson and the teachers always send u to rfl for stupid reasons like i got sent yesterday by mr berlin because i turned around ONCE like wth man the school doesnt do anything about bullying like they will prob just make u write a statement ring ur parents and put u in rfl rfl is alr tho they give u way more chances to go to the bathroom than not being in rfl the teachers dont let u go to the bathroom during lessons which is so stupid because its a human right to go to the toilet and nobody cares if a teacher says how we couldve gone at break or lunch because if you ask to go to toilet in class then you OBVIOUSLY didnt need to go at lunch or break if a girl is on her period and ur not letting her go to the bathroom then shes just gonna bleed through her clothes in class have some common sense just let us go and the fact how D block bathrooms are gender neutral with no mirrors is so silly nd weird like dont be suprised if anything weird happens and most of the time all the toilets are locked the homework u have to do is so bad and weird why would u base tests on what u can remember thats not ur actual knowledge on subjects bfr and if u dont do ur sparx u get a hour detention which is kinda over the top ngl And they make us do some weird ass chant in the morning break and lunch as if it’s gonna magically make us all succeed in lessons and make us all smart ♀️ this school is pathetic i could write loads more reasons why i dont like this school
Negative experience: Gloucester Academy is a great school to attend they show excellence ,ambition and pride. The teach students to become excellence in the future
Negative experience: Not good, reporting this school to the Council. Filed a report.
Fantastic experience: Awesome
Fantastic experience: spanish is kinda bad #kickoutmissmoyse
Negative experience: It is a decent school but it is the kids there is to much bullying to fight after school kids get bullied
Fantastic experience: I didn't realise how fantastic this school really was until we had to move to another city and I had to unfortunately place my daughter in another school. Gloucester Academy is spotless (clean) and neat. The classes are VERY well disciplined. The students are dead quiet during lessons. The lessons are modern and the teachers are amazing. The homework is also done in a modern fashion which makes it enjoyable and interesting. As with all schools, unfortunately there are a few bad mannered and rude children, however, when it comes to the school and the teachers, we can find no fault. My daughter absolutely flourished here! And she loved it! When we were looking for schools initially (May 2023 for year 9), I was very hesitant as the school had a bad reputation (and rating). But I was assured that it had been taken over by new management two years ago and that they have improved. I can confirm that this is true. My biggest regret is having to take my daughter out of this school. We are truly grateful for what this school has done for our daughter and we wish them all the best.
Fantastic experience: Our daughter started at GA in September 23 and we have been hugely impressed with everything from day 1. We never got a place in any of the schools we put down like many from Kingsholm, as we have no secondary school in our catchment area. We got GA and our initial response was to appeal and find an alternative. But then we actually decided to check GA for ourselves and take our daughter for a guided tour as we wanted her to be 100% happy too. We were actually blown away with what we experienced walking round on an everyday school day while lessons were in progress. Our daughter is thriving and we couldn't be happier with how quickly and well she's settled in which is full credit to the staff and the environment they have created. It's quite a demanding school but also very rewarding. In her first 3 months, she's picked up 12 golden tickets (reward for exceptional achievement) has contributed over 700 positive house points and has been treated to a fun trampoline experience. This gives you an idea of how they reward students for their efforts. We honestly couldn't be happier. We're very pleased with GA and we would highly recommend this school. Well done to everyone involved in the huge and ongoing improvement of Gloucester Academy.
Negative experience: I am a in year 7 and I must say it is .Although the food is but a little bit and I would like more food options instead of the same things over and over again.its an school to get around and all the kids know were they are going.I don't like the idea of changing the sets based on I think it should be based on what they know(there knowledge and understanding of things). It is very strict on how you look and don't let your express yourself. Kids are getting RFL just for having slits in their eyebrows or having piercings. I personally think we should be able to express ourselfs even if that means having coloured hair, piercings ect. I also think it is very stupid that they want everyone to look the same.it is also ridiculous how everyone has to stand outside in all weathers to have there uniform checked.

Negative experience: I’m a student at GA,I was in maths and the teacher didn’t let me go piss but then another girl asked like 10 sec later and she let them go, FIRST OF ALL she didn’t even have a toilet pass,SECOND OF ALL I was on my mf period, THIRD OF ALL you guys have to hire better teachers, what if a girl was on Their period and she had to change, and u said no, she would js bleed out in class and it would be your fault, so my beloved Gloucester Academy pls change your toilet stuff AND ADD A DOOR TO ALL THE TOILETS ,please xx

Negative experience: ... Oh the good ol' days a...
Negative experience: Quite embarrassing
Negative experience: They should change the school name to military Academy so many kids told me the school is rubbish
Negative experience: Absolute waste of time no communication between staff the school is an absolute joke. Do not under any circumstances send your child here. If you child is having difficulties and it’s not working for them here They will not even expel them to give them a chance somewhere else

Positive experience: Good school just really rude people
Fantastic experience: I was in this school, they helped a lot of time, especially during GCSE, they tried their best with helping me to get the grades that I want.
Negative experience: The best school I never regret going
Negative experience: This is a terrible school I've been bullied physically and they didn't even inform my mum about what happend instead I'v e been put in the rfl center and the girl who asulted me was allowed to go out they wouldn't let us see cctv do not send your child here no matter what
Fantastic experience: I study there this school is so good hope people send their children to Gloucester Academy
Negative experience: The most disrespectful feral kids I have ever seen Absolutely vile place If you DONT care about your kids Just send them here …
Fantastic experience: Support a career event, found staff helpful and polite. Thought the school was well structured. And found the students pleasant to talk to, interested in what was being talked about.
Negative experience: I find a lot of their policies are out of date and over the top like the uniform and hair cuts!!!.,..they are terrible on informing you on things that are important to you about your child! And the teachers are terrible and they have had more head teachers than I ve had hot dinners. The GREENSHAW GROUP OR WHATEVER THEY ARE CALLED should be stripped of running schools!!!!!
Negative experience: it’s a bad place and the staff don’t get back to you asap
Fantastic experience: I LIK TIẞ SCHOL IT TEACHERS GOD ENGALD LANGAGE TO KIDZ GOD TEIR MATHMATIC TANK YOU FOR YOR SERVISE AND DALING WITH BULYS . I PASSID MY GSCES. BEST SCOOL EVR!!!!!! GOOD LONCH MEAL YUM YUM YUMMY!!!!
Negative experience: Absolutely outrageous why is no one taking any action to shut this school down. The teachers are blackmailers the kids do whatever they want and the schools just mainly Focused on school uniform. My next door neighbour went to that school and was stabbed in the eye with a pencil Teachers need to take more responsibility otherwise the school is going to shut down From Shantel
Positive experience: Overall school is good but since i joined yr8 and my tutor/math teacher joined just because she thinks she can send me rfl once she can do it everytime for no reson, other teachers are amazing like miss wheatstone and mr ellis etc but miss jonnasson is the new teacher, i am completely annoyed as she thinks she can put me in rfl every day bit im not having that, if it happens anymore im leaving. Overall its a good school.
Negative experience: Elitist, imperialist swine who selectively enforce arbitrary rules as their prejudice dictates.
Positive experience: Some of the teachers are fine
Negative experience: It's bad
Negative experience: Staff doesn't call back, they are only concerned about attendance and exam results, they don't help the pupils that need it most they are left to struggle. General behaviours of staff gives cause for concern.
Negative experience: They care more about school uniform then education , and it seems like a common theme throughout the school. The most important judgement for a school is its ability to teach not only education but to teach children how to behave, this is not the place for that in my opinion, looking at how they have handled many uniform related problems.... Look for another school, don’t ruin your children’s future.
Negative experience: I never had an issue but when my daughter was unable to do a detention on a certain evening rather then change the day i was told that unless i explained why(personal and private reason) she would have isolation all day! I have always supported detention if she has had one, even for pathetic reasons. Blackmail!!!! So im looking to remove her from this place asap
Negative experience: Really bad school. The children get told of for the most minor things ever and it needs to stop. Also the children should be able to have any piercings they want, and any colour hair they want. This school is always talking about how they let their students express theirselves, yet they can’t dye their hair, or have piercings?! Pathetic.
We are sorry you are unhappy with our school policies. If you would like to make an appointment to discuss further with the Headteacher, we would be happy to arrange this for you.
Fantastic experience: Work there
Negative experience: This school is the worst school in history, incorrect back shoes result in isolation, I wouldn't even give a start but that the only option, new staff are trash and the school is dumber then ever
Sorry to hear you are dissatisfied with our school. We would be happy to arrange to meet with you to discuss our uniform policy and your concerns with staff. Please telephone the school to arrange an appointment.
Negative experience: Terrible school, the only reason I came here in Year 7 is because I missed the Grammar Test (11+ exam) in year 5/6, resulting in me recieving dreadful education. Majority of fellow cohort did not care about their education and would frequently misbehave. I witnessed a lot of bullying aswell. Certain teachers were wonderful though, Dave Readman, Emile Pinco, Skone, Beard some others but thats pretty much it. Don't get me started about central because that school was embarrasing. People that were intelligent were not being taught properly because of obstreperous students. Many people from my cohort could have recieved a clean sheet of A/A*'s at GCSE if they had attended a selective school. Not here to brag, but I know that if I did not attend this school, I would have 100% been in a different position now. My advice is to not go here, if you want your child to be in a nice environment.. please avoid. OF COURSE, the standard of teaching might've improved and the misbehaving students may have diminished, but this sounds too far fetched. Look at the school history, many headteachers leaving after only 1 year, or LESS. Please if you can, educate your children whilst they're in year 4 so that they attend a selective school. If you can afford to, send them to a private school. If this school is the only place your child can attend then please ensure that they are surrounding themselves with the right crowd. It is very easy for them to be around bad influences, thus losing focus of their studies. ENSURE THAT THEY STUDY AT HOME AND DON'T JOIN THE CROWD. PLEASE. Don't get it twisted though, I am doing well for myself, by God's grace!
Negative experience: I think this school is a waste to children
Could you contact the school direct to discuss please
Negative experience: My brother was supposed to go to sixth form this year but Out of nowhere it was cancelled and at the last minute this meant that my brother had to try to sign up for Gloucester college but they said it was too late to sign up.....this is all because this school decide to come up with a new set of rules which doesn’t allow students to do pretty much anything without getting an hour detention for example disassembling or breaking a pen......this caused not enough students to sign up for sixth form and for it to be cancelled.......
Negative experience: Teachers hardly ever help students with their work. They always prioroties the naughty children.
Fantastic experience: Mohammed Mulla IS A FAIRY AND CAN FLY!! , But Honestly school has improved a lot and as a student in Gloucester Academy It has improved a lot I think this is due to the new Headteacher who has improved the school and flipped it up, the staff are very nice and bond with students which is a major part of learning in Gloucester Academy Also the behaviour system is also good where both the staff and student can speak to each other to figure something out in lessons. a few honourable mentions : Mr Beard , Mr Maguire , Mr Marks , Mr Fry , Miss Shadwells these teacher have always helped me and should deserve a medal for helping me out.
Negative experience: Córce chyba Czeszka wyrwała włosy na tyle dużo że do dziś włosy nie odrosły. Ma blizny i przerzedzone prawie puste pola.Na samym czubku głowy.Dyrektorka to zbagatelizowała.
Negative experience: My son whent to this school with a my plan plus and was set to start a echo the senco at his old school Elmbridge senco said that might be the next step,he is now in year8 and will be going in to year9 in Septembe, since he has been at Gloucester academy he hasn't had a my plan report done, when I ask about his my plan plus they said they have no records of it,I'm never keep up to date with what is happening the senco at the school really needs to pull up there socks and get the help for my son and the records in order.
Hi Tammy. Could you please contact the school direct. A member of our Senior Leadership will be happy to discuss this matter with you.
Fantastic experience: Gloucester Academy has a variety of extra-curricular activities such as netball, dance, art and music. I have been able to extend my learning in areas I am passionate about. I have enjoyed school and made long lasting friendships.
Positive experience: I enjoy the range of lessons at Gloucester Academy. There is a variety of after-school clubs such as football, and rugby in which I have made strong friendships.
Positive experience: I think this school is a great place to learn. The staff is always cheerful and so nice, they always greet you with a huge smile. Teachers are mostly very helpful and always willing to go through things that the students might struggle with. I believe that the EAL team deserves special acknowledgement as they deliver an enormous amount of help and support to the students from other countries. I was one of them, and without the ladies from the EAL team I would not be able to achieve so much. I cannot express in words how grateful I am. However, there is a reason why I decided to give the school only 4/5 stars. I believe I am not the only one who faced multiple problems with cash machines in school. On multiple occasions I experienced problems with them, as the machine took my money without changing the balance on my account. Every time I reported a problem, people responsible for these machines stated that the machine had not register my money, therefore they were unable to give them back. This resulted in me not only loosing money but ending up hungry without lunch for the rest of the day.
Positive experience: This school is great for students who are facing problems and need to talk with someone. Lessons are more active so you can learn physical fitness. The other lessons are fun because you learn more than one thing at a time Such as in History you would learn about William the Conqueror not just about what he did but who he was.
Negative experience: A lot of bullying goes on. teachers are pathetic they can't even help you and school is pathetic and racist.
Negative experience: It's a good school. Im in Year 10. Next week is work experience but annoyingly i can't do it, no fault of mine but of the school. Weeks ago i should've received a letter to make the school aware that I wanted to do work experience but my tutor never supplied me with one. I am very angry about this as i approached the teacher who sorts this out and she said " no you're not doing work experience because we didn't get that letter".
Negative experience: Nothing at all
Negative experience: A lot of bullying goes on
Negative experience: This school is a disgrace and shouldn't be called a school !!!!!
Fantastic experience: Zubair sells cans.
Fantastic experience: Good school has improved but still needs improvements
