Spanish with Victoria

Fantastic experience: I started learning with Victoria on the beginners course and have since signed up for more. I originally thought I’d prefer one-to-one lessons, but I’ve ended up really enjoying the small group setting. It’s great to be part of a little community where everyone’s learning together. The classes feel relaxed and conversational, but you can tell they’re carefully planned and structured. Victoria creates a really supportive and encouraging atmosphere, always checking that everyone’s following along and taking the time to explain things when needed.

Fantastic experience: I was very nervous to join but after my first lesson I felt very comfortable around a group of like minded people ready to learn more Spanish! Victoria is a great mentor she is super friendly and accommodating and I would highly recommend her classes to anyone wishing to improve their Spanish vocabulary!

Fantastic experience: I cannot praise Victoria highly enough for the quality of these courses. The content is based on conversation with the necessary repetition which she interweaves with Spanish culture and history. Learning something more than just the language has made the experience more immersive and stimulating. Having access to videoed classes and all the related materials has been invaluable for the weeks we've not been able to attend in person. Fantastic experience: I start Victoria's Beginners class back in February and have just finished Advanced Beginners 1. I've really enjoyed it so far and have learnt a lot. Victoria is a really good and natural teacher, and has a great way of supporting and encouraging students. She creates a really supporting atmosphere for learning. The classes are based around conversational Spanish so extra study outside of class is definitely encouraged and will definitely help when in class. A good range of resources are provided online to encourage learning. I'll be continuing with Advanced Beginners 2 in September.

Fantastic experience: I have been studying Spanish with Victoria for about six months now. Previously I had used duolingo and then enrolled on a WEA course online. The difference is incredible, Victoria’s face to face sessions are brilliant. Victoria is fun and very innovative in her approach. Every lesson raises a smile. The learning process is gently reinforced, we learn, ‘poco a poco’ (little by little) but make steady progress. Look forward to finishing this course and enrolling for the next. Thank you Victoria.

Fantastic experience: What a revelation. Learning a language and being treated as an adult. Super personality. Perfectly paced. Up to date with currently learning theory and implements the lessons using this. From a nervous student with no skill and no aptitude I feel more confident having taken the beginners course. Fantastic experience: Victoria works incredibly hard to provide interesting, engaging and challenging content. Lessons are almost entirely in Spanish and focus on speaking and comprehension in small classes. I've been going to lessons for almost a year now and my Spanish has improved beyond expectations.

Fantastic experience: I last studied languages at school some forty years ago and started with some trepidation. I needn't worry: Victoria's classes are fun and interesting. Her lessons start at a complete beginner's level and build up gradually. Victoria makes everyone in the small class feel at ease and the learning process is very natural. Of course, it helps to supplement the classes with home study. Fantastic experience: Victoria is an amazing teacher, her lessons are challenging and interesting. She clearly puts so much effort into planning engaging lessons which are packed full of Spanish. She creates a relaxed and friendly atmosphere in which to practise with confidence. I have learnt so much in just the first 10 weeks.

Fantastic experience: Victoria is a great teacher, I really enjoy the way she teaches the class. I thought I would struggle to understand the classes as they are taught completely in Spanish but it's amazing how much you pick up and you walk away from each lesson with a sense of achievement. Victoria always makes sure you understand what is being said, is full of energy and fosters a very non-judgemental atmosphere which means I find it easier to practice speaking in the class. I've completed the beginner class and have now moved onto the advanced beginner. Looking forward to resuming classes in the new year. Thanks again!

Fantastic experience: I have been learning spanish with Victoria for several terms now. I joined as a beginner and I am curently at Advanced Beginners. It is very friendly with lots of online content. This makes the learning fun and situational and not like a text book or Duolingo which is just learning words without context. I feel much happier with the videos and the in person classes. I would highly recommend Victoria and I will continue my journey with her.

Fantastic experience: I was really anxious about starting a new language that I had never studied before but Victoria's classes are fantastic!! I am now over a year into a weekly course with Victoria. The classes are fun and Victoria is a great teacher!!! She's so patient and easy to get along with. If it hadn't been for Victoria's way of teaching and friendly easy-going personality, I think I could easily have dropped out- due to unrelated personal issues...But Victoria's encouragement and fun classes keep me going.

Fantastic experience: Victoria is a wonderful teacher. Her educational style promotes organic learning that can be applied in real world scenarios, rather than getting too hung up on things like grammar. If you want to learn how to really speak Spanish rather than simply learning about grammatical rules, etc, then this course is for you. Victoria herself has a caring and calming demeaner which really aids the learning experience. If you struggle, you aren't made to feel judged or embarrassed. Although she's such a good teacher, that students tend not to struggle anyway! Her lessons are fun and engaging. They are just the right level of interactive. Not too mentally taxing for someone with social anxiety like myself!

Fantastic experience: I started with the beginners course with no previous experience of speaking Spanish (other than a vague attempt on holiday!) and Victoria pitched the teaching at the correct level. She uses a good combination of listening, speaking, reading and watching (some short videos in spanish) to help you pick up simple language used in everyday conversation. I signed up simply to be able to try and learn another language so I could speak a bit more on holiday. I have really enjoyed the beginners course and now feel I understand a lot and can speak a enough to describe who I am, where I'm from, where I live, what I like/ don't like. It was an easy decision to carry on to the advanced beginners course (which many other students have done too) and it's been equally as good! I'd thoroughly recommend Victoria's courses for her excellent teaching methods. The course materials online are also very useful and I have enjoyed relistening to the classes in my walk to work/ on the train!

I worried that I would feel embarrassed speaking Spanish to a stranger but Victoria instantly put me at ease. She is very encouraging and I always finish a class feeling positive about my Spanish. I have grown in confidence and my grammar and vocabulary have flourished too. Victoria has lots of ideas to make learning Spanish fun, with videos, film discussions, semi-structured discussions on a pre-agreed topic etc. I would highly recommend Spanish with Victoria.

Fantastic experience: I first met Victoria when I was looking for some tuition to improve my conversational Spanish. Topics were agreed beforehand and materials provided, if necessary. Feedback was always given afterwards. She is VERY encouraging which certainly helps one’s confidence. She has now established a Spanish Club which is particularly aimed at intermediate learners. I have joined a group which meets every week (via Zoom). We discuss topical events in the Spanish speaking world, films and literature, as well as have more general conversations. She also hosts a Facebook page where she has interviews with native Spanish speakers, grammar tips and explanations of Spanish idioms. (I love these!) In my experience, it is quite difficult to find language classes beyond beginners so the services Victoria provides are perfect for anyone wanting to move on in their Spanish language journey. Highly recommended.
