EF International Language Campus - English courses in Manchester

Negative experience: Si vous avez un niveau intermédiaire, c’est une perte de temps et d’argent. Le programme présenté comme “intensif” ne l’est absolument pas : les cours durent en moyenne 3 heures par jour, les groupes sont très hétérogènes et l’approche reste très scolaire. Impossible de réellement progresser en prise de parole, ce qui était pourtant mon objectif principal. Concernant les familles d’accueil, faites très attention. Vous pouvez tomber sur des hébergements avec une hygiène limite, une alimentation totalement déséquilibrée, et des familles qui le font clairement uniquement pour l’argent. L’immersion culturelle est quasi inexistante, et le séjour ressemble davantage à une auberge de jeunesse qu’à un véritable accueil en famille.

Negative experience: From Spain they offer you a package to study English which they later change in Manchester due to poor administration. They are a very kind team, but academically they don’t offer what you ask for because they change classes and topics if they need teachers. I came for two weeks and five teachers happened to get sick. Instead of replacing them, they merged the classes, with more than 20 students in each one — it was outrageous. I came with huge excitement and I’m leaving with deep sadness and disappointment. I made the most of every class I received, but it’s unacceptable that they put me with people of lower levels, trying to make me believe they were at my level. In short, everyone needs to have their own experience, but I will not return to EF Manchester.

Mi sono trovato molto bene fin dal primo momento. Fantastic experience: Che dire? La mia esperienza con EF Manchester ha soddisfatto le mie aspettative. La scuola e tutto il team EF sono molto accoglienti e pronti ad aiutarti per qualsiasi necessità. Le classi sono ben bilanciate e gli insegnati preparati. Ho scelto un corso intensivo di 2 settimane, per motivi lavorativi, ma ho migliorato sia lo speaking, che il listening. Tutti sono li per imparare e parlare il più possibile, per perdere nervosismo e ansia, quindi tutti parlano con tutti, in ogni momento. Inoltre, organizzano attività interessanti, consigliate! Ho scelto l'esperienza del Residence che dista solo 10 minuti a piedi dalla scuola, scelta fatta per non perdere tempo, visto il breve periodo di permanenza. Ho incontrato e stretto amicizie che mi porto nel cuore e spero di portare avanti anche nella vita. Grazie!

Fantastic experience: Si estás pensando en estudiar inglés fuera, EF Manchester es una buena opción . Yo estuve allí y fue, sin duda, una de las mejores experiencias que he vivido. Las clases no son nada pesadas, al contrario, se hacen súper amenas, y los profes siempre dispuestos a echarte una mano con lo que necesites. La escuela está cerca del centro de Manchester en bus, Además, EF organiza un montón de planes: excursiones, actividades por la ciudad, noches de juegos… Siempre hay algo que hacer y gente nueva que conocer. La residencia también está muy bien, cómoda y cerca de la escuela. Lo mejor de todo es que estás todo el rato hablando inglés, incluso fuera de clase, y al final mejoras sin darte cuenta.

Fantastic experience: Tive a oportunidade de frequentar a EF em Manchester pela primeira vez em Abril, concretizando assim um sonho de criança. Inicialmente, pareceu que as coisas não iriam correr da melhor forma, mas o staff resolveu tudo com a maior brevidade possível, especialmente no que diz respeito à host family. Quanto à escola: a direção e toda a equipa foram sempre cuidadosos, atenciosos e extremamente prestáveis – sabiam até os nossos nomes, o que fez toda a diferença no ambiente acolhedor que se viveu. Relativamente à aprendizagem: os professores eram simpáticos, ensinavam os conteúdos de forma dinâmica e estavam sempre disponíveis para ajudar no que fosse necessário. Recomendo vivamente a EF Manchester. Foi uma das experiências mais marcantes e positivas da minha vida, e sem dúvida uma que nunca esquecerei. Um obrigada a todos.

Die Stadt und ihre Umgebung haben kulturell und landschaftlich einiges zu bieten – es gibt immer etwas Neues zu entdecken. Die Sprachschule war hervorragend organisiert und hat zahlreiche ausserschulische Aktivitäten angeboten, die das Lernen abwechslungsreich und spannend gemacht haben. Positive experience: After spending six months at EF Manchester, I’d like to share my thoughts on this enriching experience. First of all, a big thank you to all my teachers and the rest of the staff, including the administrative team and various offices. I had an amazing six months at EF. The classes are of excellent quality, and the teachers are even better. I had the chance to meet several of them, and without exception, they were all dedicated, pedagogical, and kind. I sincerely appreciate their hard work and commitment – they’ll know who they are . A special thanks as well to the different teams that keep the school running smoothly every day. The administrative offices are also very responsive: whenever an issue arises, whether related to classes or accommodation, the team acts quickly and finds an effective solution. – Beyond the lessons, this immersion was extremely beneficial for my English learning. My level improved from A1/A2 to B2/C1 in just six months, which shows how effective the program and learning environment are. If I had to point out one weak spot, it would be the optional SPIN classes. Some are very interesting, while others are less so. However, this also depends on individual preferences. – The school is well located, not too far from Manchester city centre. Another advantage of this city is its central position in the UK, making it easy to travel to other interesting destinations such as Liverpool, Birmingham, or York, with affordable train fares. – The main downside is the host families. I spoke with several students who were unhappy with their experience, mainly due to issues with food, heating, or the distance from the school. Personally, I had to change families during my first weeks because my first host didn’t make any effort and seemed more interested in the money than in hosting students. Luckily, after changing families, everything went very well. A special shout-out to Lewis, who made my stay much more enjoyable! – EF Manchester is an excellent school with high-quality classes and outstanding teachers. However, the host family experience can be a drawback. Despite this negative point, my overall experience was very positive, and I would recommend this school to anyone looking to improve their English quickly.

Hoy ha sido mi primer día en la escuela y hemos asistido a una presentación con todos los alumnos que hemos llegado el pasado domingo, nos han explicado todos los detalles sobre el curso y la estancia. A partir del mediodía hemos hecho un tour por la escuela y la ciudad. Estoy alojándome en la residencia y la verdad es que me ha sorprendido gratamente por la limpieza y el silencio en general. English School √ Excelentes profesores √ Excellent teachers √ En este lugar te sientes en confianza. √ Si Realmente deseas aprender bien el inglés, te recomiendo EF. Las personas que están en la escuela atendiendo a los alumnos ¡son los mejores! √ Al primer día todo es nuevo en la manera de aprender pero al cabo de una semana te sientes como "pez en el agua" √ Las personas son muy amigables, harás muchos amigos de diferentes países. √ El sistema de aprendizaje es genial. √ Es sensacional poder decir que perteneces a la familia EF. Será una de las mejores decisiones de tu vida. 100% recomendado.

Negative experience: La pire expérience internationale possible. Je ne dirai aucun mal de ma famille d’accueil car ils ont été très bienveillants et ont fait leur maximum pour subvenir à mes besoins et mes exigences pour améliorer mon anglais. Cependant, l’école et l’organisation est une supercherie. Des cours d’anglais catastrophiques, si votre objectif est d’étudier pendant 2 jours la nourriture ou de passer une après midi à parler de braconnage alors foncez. Par contre si vous souhaitez apprendre du vocabulaire utilisé et pratique pour maintenir une conversation en anglais alors ce programme est à fuir. Certain des étudiants en famille d’accueil dormaient dans des porcheries, avec peu de chauffage en hiver, des coupures d’eau courante et avec d’autres étrangers sans aucune hygiène de vie dans la même chambre de 10 m2. De plus 5 jours m’ont été retirés de mon programme sans possibilité de remboursement (de leur faute). Une honte. Pour terminer, les remarques déplacées envers les français en cours car un enseignant a du mal à avaler la branler que l’on a mis aux anglais y’a 200 ans…. Vous ne progressez pas en anglais avec cette organisation.

Fantastic experience: I studied in Manchester this summer. It was an amazing experience, I have learned a lot. The teachers are very nice and helpful, I have improved a lot thanks to them. I met wonderful people and made new friends and we are still keep in touch months after I left. I truly appreciate the lessons as well as the activities and I really miss my time there. My host family is really wonderful, I was very confortable and I am planning to visit them next year.

Negative experience: 1. In the beginning the course did not meet my objectives because my level was not appropriate, only after 3 weeks I was able to move to a level more suited to my needs, with people of a suitable age and with the emphases I had chosen in the intensive course. 2. The number of students is more than 8 per class, we had classes with more than 18 people, which made learning difficult. 3. As for the teachers, some of them met the expectations like Shaida and Soung, but some other classes were very routine without dynamics. 4. As for the house where I lived, Mrs Angela Otawa, very special, human, caring, attentive, neat, she allowed me to cook, helped me in my medical situations, but the house is very far away, about 1.5 hours each way, given that you have to enter the city centre, the transport frequencies change and do not favour the class schedules. 5. When I reported that I was in a complicated situation due to a medication that had an adverse effect on my health, as well as some mental health situations that contributed to my decision to return to the country, this made me feel alone and unprotected, I had to go to a public hospital, I notified them by whatsapp and I did not get any support from the school. This makes me wonder if I made the right choice. 6.I presented the case of EF Colombia and I have not been able to get an appointment, nor a personal attention to validate options of refunding money and method of study,

Fantastic experience: A fantastic experience.. from all points of view.. especially for the host family ❤

Positive experience: My experience with EF was truly incredible! I had the opportunity to make amazing friendships that I know will last a lifetime. The social and cultural aspects of the program enriched my journey and made it unforgettable. However, I don’t feel I progressed significantly in terms of learning new concepts or advancing my level. That said, I did get a lot of practice, which helped me gain confidence in using the language in real-life situations. Overall, EF provided me with valuable life experiences, great memories, and plenty of English practice.

Negative experience: Tutto bene per quanto riguarda il transfer, la sistemazione e la convivenza internazionale, ma sono molto delusa dalla scuola! Il mio programma prevedeva 2 settimane con almeno 25 ore di lezione settimanali , la prima settimana le ore in aula erano 12 e la seconda 10 . Per il resto del tempo l'insegnante era assente e impegnato con gli studenti di lungo periodo. Siccome non è economico, mi sento truffata.

Fantastic experience: Je ne regrette pas du tout mon expérience passée à Manchester, même si je ne suis resté que deux semaines. Les cours sont très intéressants, avec alternance de jeux er de travail en commun qui permettent de faire de réel progrès. Les professeurs sont excellents et prennent en compte les différents niveaux. Les classes sont multi multi culturelles et avexdes élèves de de tout âges ,ce qui n'empêche pas l'entraide, car tous sont là pour progresser. Pour les hébergements, la prochaine fois , je prendrais le campus, plus simple pour travailler. Merci à toute l'équipe de Ef Manchester.

Negative experience: Actualmente soy alumna de campus EF Mánchester. Anoche salí con unas amigas y llegué tarde a casa, avisé a mi familia de acogida que llegaría tarde pero no especifiqué horario porque en realidad no sabía la hora en la que me desocuparía. Llegué a casa a las 2:30 am y no pude abrir la puerta, le pusieron seguro por dentro y por más que me comunique con la familia nadie contestó. Me quedé en la calle prácticamente, pasando frío y expuesta a que me pasara algo. Desde que llegué a la casa de la familia de acogida nunca me expusieron sobre las horas en las que tenía que llegar o salir. Estoy muy molesta por esta situación y exijo mi cambio ya o que me regresen mi dinero porque no es lo único que he pasado con la familia. Anteriormente ya fui a pedir cambio por temas de la comida y que la primera semana me quedaba afuera o no podía salir porque no tenía llaves de la casa. Exijo cambio de family ya o regrésenme mi dinero. Afortunadamente estoy bien pero si hubiera sido caso contrario ya habrían echo algo. Que poca consciencia de EF MÁNCHESTER al exponer en peligro a sus alumnos con este tipo de familias que asignan. Es inhumano lo que uno vive. Exijo solución!!!! En realidad estoy muy decepcionada por cómo te venden su programa y “la hermosa familia “ que te asignarán y es una pesadilla. Solo por esto no les recomiendo EF Manchester

Positive experience: 3 stars. Nothing else to say

Negative experience: No recomendaría que hagan el curso con EF. No te comentan todo desde un comienzo, partiendo con que las clases son carísimas para lo que duran. Luego, el alojamiento que te ofrecen queda a más de 1 hora del instituto, por lo que tienes que considerar dinero para transporte y el tiempo de viaje. Luego, en la casa de alojamiento, es al azar y si tienes suerte te dan el desayuno y la cena, pero te ponen horarios y límites para comer y salir. Además, te puede tocar con gente que no habla Inglés. Estoy totalmente decepcionada con el curso, siento que no invertí bien mi dinero. Al momento de contratar el curso no te comentan ninguno de estos detalles, ni que hay reglas en la host family, que puede que te toque compartir habitación, que el trayecto es más de una hora, etc. Mi recomendación para los que quieran estudiar Inglés en Manchester, es que vean otro curso y busquen alojamiento por airbnb. Así tienes más libertad y pagas lo que realmente es.

Positive experience: L’esperienza di 5 settimane presso EF Manchester, nella sua totalità, è stata una buona esperienza di studio della lingua inglese. La struttura è accogliente, vi è molto margine di miglioramento sui servizi igienici e sulla climatizzazione delle aule. Nel mio caso il numero di studenti per classe è stato ottimo così come l’età media dei partecipanti. Gli insegnanti con il quale mi sono confrontato sono competenti, e dinamici nel metodo di insegnamento. È mancata una dettagliata consulenza sui corsi che si possono scegliere ed il tipo dei certificati che si possono conseguire. Le attività extra scolastiche sono varie, le informazioni arrivano spesso all’ultimo minuto e per un’attività gli orari erano contraddittori. Le attività sono un po’ costose. Io ho scelto la sistemazione in residenza per studenti e sono stato contento. EF Manchester è un'opzione valida, ma ci sono margini di miglioramento per offrire un'esperienza davvero eccezionale.

Positive experience: Yo he estado muy a gusto en la escuela, las clases para mí han sido de buena calidad y con una metodología adecuada. Compartir el aula con compañeros de todo el mundo me parece fascinante. En la residencia he echado de menos un baño más cómodo, con mayor presión de agua en la ducha. Tengo que agradecer, en cambio, la limpieza de la habitación y espacios comunes. En conjunto, la experiencia ha sido muy positiva. Por otra parte, el precio, creo que excesivo.

Fantastic experience: 3か月お世話になりました。 授業は、 ①担任の先生がついてくれる主クラス ②複数の先生が担当してくれるspinクラス ③様々なトピックに触れることができるWEB(zoom)クラス で構成されています。 そのなかでも①②が学習の中心です。先生方は様々な国からきた英語初心者の拙い発音もしっかり拾い、正しい発音を指導してくれます。グラマーの解説指導力はもちろんプロのテクニックを感じましたが、私個人としてはこのリスニング力に感動していました。 学校生活は快適です。 カフェはメインからデザートまで多様な料理が提供され、価格も適切です。学習の合間に利用でき、生徒間のコミュニケーション向上にも一役買っています。 また、様々な国から様々な価値観、宗教観を持った生徒が集まりますので、それに配慮しながらも学校としてのガイドラインが明確にされており、生徒は安心、安全に学習に専念できます。 学習設備や教材も計画的に運用されていて、自身の進捗管理がやりやすいです。 時期により学生数がかなり変動しますので、繁忙期と閑散期ではクラス編成が変わりますので、長期の留学を検討している方はご自身の最終到達点を明確にして、学内にあるプロデュース担当としっかり相談しながら学習することをお勧めします。

Positive experience: Il corso è ottimo, mio figlio lo ha seguito senza sentire "l'obbligo scolastico". Sarebbe da migliorare invece la struttura che le ultime due settimane era molto sporca e al 4⁰ piano c'era addirittura un topo. Poiché la scuola era a 40 minuti a piedi, sarebbe opportuno offrire un servizio navetta e ancor meglio un servizio di sveglia mattutino.

Negative experience: Una autèntica decepció! Res del promès es va complir. Família assignada desapareguda, ni la van rebre el dia d'arribada, ni li preparaven esmorzar, sopava sola i només si reclamava el sopar, sempre el mateix i molt picant, no li van posar cap companya d'habitació, tal i com ens havien promès, les activitats proposades totes pagant i molt cares i quan ens vam queixar i demanar que la canviessin de família la seva resposta va ser "la seva integritat física no corre cap perill" esgarrifant!! Al final i després d'amenaçar en accions legals la van canviar a una altra família l'ultima setmana, aquest cop sí, amb un pare molt atent que els hi va ensenyar la ciutat a ella i la companya de pis. Pel que fa al curs no van complir amb les hores lectives a les que s'havien compromès i els horaris canviaven cada dia. Decepció absoluta!!

Positive experience: Die EF Schule in Manchester ist ein schöner Ort um englisch zu lernen und neue Freundschaften zu schließen. Es gibt viele verschieden Räume, wie z.B. eine Bücherei, ein Videospielraum, eine Studenten Lounge oder eine Cafeteria, die alle sehr schön und gemütlich gestaltet sind. Empfehlenswert!

Negative experience: Expérience décevante - à abstenir ! Famille d'accueil absente pendant le séjour des mineurs ... Aucune intervention de la part d'EF pour trouver une solution. Programme d'animation payante (pourtant activités gratuites annoncées dans le devis). Niveau des cours d'anglais inférieur à d'autres organismes.

So what about school? it is very organized and offers a lot of side activities. Personally I would have preferred to be introduced at a lower level. Unfortunately my knowledge of the language is poor and the lessons were often incomprehensible to me. I would like to repeat the experience but starting from a more comfortable level and then improving it later

Negative experience: NO RECOMIENDO EF A NADIE La experiencia que he tenido con EF en Manchester este mes de julio ha sido horrorosa. Me he sentido engañada. Contraté alojamiento con una familia de Manchester para mi hijo de 17 años. Lleguó allí y lo pusieron en un piso con dos estudiantes más, estaban solos. Los responsables eran una familia de Bangladesh con la que no había ningún trato. Sólo traían la comida al piso. Todos se quedaban con hambre. Cuando lleguó al cuarto tuvo que limpiarlo, lavar las sábanas usadas para poder acomodarse. Además, después de una semana lo cambiaron de piso para poder poner literas en su habitación inicial y meter a un estudiante más. Pedí explicaciones y me dijeron que todo era correcto. EF no hizo caso de mis reclamciones. Me ofrecieron cambio de casa a la semana de reclamar. Todo ha sido un desastre. En las reuniones previas te dicen que tendrán muchas actividades para hacer, pero lo que no te dicen es que todos son pagando, a parte de lo que cuesta el curso. NO RECOMIENDO EF A NADIE

Positive experience: A very beautiful and welcoming school. One aspect that could be improved is the level assessments, as I felt there was an imbalance in the classes. I expected to improve my English, but at the level I was placed, I found the classes boring and the exercises quite easy. I always finished the tasks before all my classmates and had to wait for them. The transfer service management could also be improved, as I was picked up 20 minutes later than the agreed time and arrived at the airport with only an hour and a half to get to my gate, pass security, etc., in a place I was unfamiliar with. Apart from that, I was very happy with the three teachers I had. They could improve on correcting pronunciation. However, they help you at all times and explain any doubts you have.

Negative experience: The school uses orthodox and old-fashioned ways to teach, and the biggest highlight was the online lecture. Artificial intelligence is taboo during lessons. Next time I wouldn't choose this school. The student atmosphere was great, so 2 stars out of 5.

Fantastic experience: Durch die Sprachreise bei EF hat sich mein Englisch im beruflichen Bereich verbessert. Dir Lehrer an der Schule sind wirklich sehr geduldig, hilfsbereit, freundlich und lustig. Um mit anderen in Kontakt zu kommen würde ich jedem auch empfehlen an den Aktivitäten teilzunehmen. Durch diese Sprachreise hatte ich die Möglichkeit mich persönlich weiterzuentwickeln und habe neue Freunde gefunden. Danke EF :) The language trip with EF has improved my English for professional purposes. The teachers at the school are really very patient, helpful, friendly and funny. Positive experience: My personal experience was interesting, of learning, and growth, as the classes are always in English, the teachers are very good, and the classmates are of different nationalities, the system is very friendly, and didactic, it is important to fulfill the tasks, pass the exams, be on time, and not miss classes. Also at the School they schedule recreational activities on weekends, some free, and others with costs, to different places near Manchester. As soon as my host family, the people are kind, and they were aware of me. I enjoyed walking to school for a part. And another one by bus. What I didn't like was that I got sick with the flu and I missed 2 days and they deducted points in assistance. EF Puebla I think they should improve their customer service in terms of attention, not leaving all pending at the end.

Positive experience: La escuela es muy linda, los maestros increíbles, es tan multicultural que escuchas acentos de todas partes, hay profesores de EUA, británicos, australianos, hindús, de todo así que puedes practicar más de lo que esperas, todos son súper respetuosos y los estudiantes somos de todas partes así que aprendes de otras culturas, es una experiencia muy linda.
