Positive experience: I’ve spent the most beautiful 8 months of my life here. It wasn’t just about learning English — it was a wonderful experience where I got to meet other cultures and make friends from many different countries. The teachers helped me with everything I needed. They were very kind and made every class I took enjoyable and useful. The Staff also supported me with everything I needed, and when I got sick, they truly took care of me. Honestly, I felt like I was in my second home and with my second family. They also placed me with a host family where I stayed for the entire 8 months, and they were extremely kind. I really felt like I was part of their family. I was very lucky to be with them. The reason I’m giving the institute only 3 stars is because on my graduation day, something happened involving one person. I don’t want to mention it here out of respect for the wonderful days I spent there, even though it completely spoiled my graduation day.

Fantastic experience: It was a fantastic experience. From the first to the last day. All the staff are extremely helpful, always ready to help. If something isn't clear to you, they explain everything to you using other easier words. The first day is for registration and a welcome. They tell you about school, health insurance and accommodation, and at the end there is a city tour. If you have any questions or concerns, you can easily contact the staff and they will do their best to resolve everything. The teachers are highly qualified and always available to help you. During the week, there are social activities, which are very useful for socializing and speaking English. What I liked most is their attitude; they always make you feel at ease, even if you have language difficulties. On the last day of school, after class, there's a ceremony where you receive your certificate of completion and a small gift. An unforgettable experience, that I would repeat other thousand times.

The staff are always available to help you, and if there's something you don't understand, they explain it to you in other words until you understand. The teachers also help you a lot, both with grammar and pronunciation. Even the shyest ones are involved They make you feel at ease. The social activities are very helpful for integrating, speaking English, and visiting new places accompanied by the teachers. On the last day, they hold the ceremony where they give you the certificate; it's a very emotional moment. It's an experience everyone should have because it enriches you.

Positive experience: I had a great time at IH Manchester. The overall atmosphere was welcoming and friendly. The teachers were engaging and knowledgeable. If it were just for the school I would definitely have given it 5 stars. As for my experience at Mrs. H.'s house, it was absolutely negative (and deserves zero stars!!!). First of all, there was another Colombian girl in her house who spoke basic English, and this didn't help my speaking skills. As for meals, breakfast was almost meager: aside from milk or coffee, there was a croissant (sometimes not even that), some cereal, and a yogurt (sometimes not even that). Is this an English breakfast?!? Saturdays and Sundays were supposed to be full board (according to the contract), but Mrs. H. didn't seem at all enthusiastic about preparing lunch for me, so much so that sometimes I was forced to go down to the kitchen and eat an apple or banana to avoid starving. I had the distinct impression that weekend lunches were optional for her... since she obviously prioritized her work. Furthermore, despite my having stated that I didn't eat meat, one evening she left me a pizza with salami in the oven, and another evening I found bacon in a sort of potato stew. One of the things that bothered me most was that Mrs. H. would let me know via WhatsApp that meals were ready, rather than calling me... sometimes she would call the Colombian girl, but not me! As for the room where I slept, the carpet was dirty and dusty, and cat hair was everywhere. There was no air conditioning or fan in the room, so I suffered from the heat on sunny days. Furthermore, Mrs. H. never showed me the washing machine where I could wash my clothes, nor did she give me any information about the towels available to me (there was only a bathrobe behind the bedroom door). But, beyond all this, the thing that bothered me most was her attitude, especially during the last few days of my stay. Mrs. H. seemed almost annoyed by my presence, and she took on a decidedly patronizing attitude toward me, coupled with a certain air of superiority and snobbery. She constantly belittled my English level and sometimes even spoke to me in Italian because she thought I didn't understand English! This was despite the teachers at IH praising me and being very pleased with my progress and participation in class (it's no coincidence that I was voted "student of the week"). Finally, the worst thing that bothered me the most happened the morning of my departure when Mrs. H. said to me in a dismissive tone: "I'm telling you this in Italian because you don't understand English! You have to leave the keys on the console...do you know what a console is???" As if I were a brainless person who doesn't understand what she's saying!!! I spoke to other students at the school, and they ended up with welcoming and friendly families... why, I wonder, did you make me go to this person? It was clear she was only interested in my money. I frankly consider it an injustice.

Fantastic experience: I chose IH to improve my English, and what I found was much more than just a school. It felt like my second home. From the moment I arrived in Manchester until my last day, the school was incredibly attentive and thoughtful about my experience, both inside and outside the classroom. They always showed genuine concern for the students, checking if we were truly learning and if we were facing any difficulties. This care went beyond the classroom, they constantly made sure we were having a good experience in Manchester and asked if we needed anything. The support from the entire team is simply amazing. Being in a new country alone can be scary at first, but the IH staff does such an outstanding job of making you feel welcome that you truly feel at home. I'm deeply grateful to the whole team: Jonh, Marta, Clair, Jordan, Joseph, Marie, and all the teachers for their dedication and commitment to us. I will definitely be back soon.

Fantastic experience: I attended this school for five months, and I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences of my life. When I started, I didn’t speak a single word of English. I was insecure, and because of my dyslexia, I thought learning English would be impossible for me. But from day one, I found amazing teachers and staff who were always there to help, encourage, and correct mistakes with kindness. No one ever made fun of errors instead, mistakes were seen as chances to learn and improve. The lessons were always engaging, inclusive, and never boring. I learned English naturally, and after just three months, I was already speaking with confidence. I made wonderful friendships, and I always felt welcomed and supported. By the end of the course, I had reached a B2 level, something I never thought I could achieve. After returning to Italy, I started working in the tourism industry, and every day I realize how much this school gave me. Now I can speak English, and more importantly, I gained confidence, self-esteem, and a strong foundation to keep improving. I recommend this school not only to learn English, but also to grow as a person. It’s an experience I will carry in my heart forever.

Fantastic experience: I enrolled only in the General English course, so my feedback will mainly focus on IH Manchester itself and the General English programme. On my very first day, the staff greeted me by name. Despite the large number of students attending the school – and the fact that, as an Asian student, my name would not have been familiar to them – they had remembered it and welcomed me personally. That simple gesture made a strong impression on me, and I felt from that moment that I could trust the school, its staff, and its teachers. It made me genuinely happy. The school environment was always clean, bright, and welcoming, with a wide variety of activities organised to keep students engaged and motivated. Opportunities to interact with teachers, students from other classes, and staff outside of lessons also greatly supported my English learning. It was not easy for me to actively communicate when I felt unsure of my English skills, so having those chances to connect with others helped me a lot. I believe such efforts helped to foster a sense of unity among the students and created a positive atmosphere for communication. I truly felt that the school supported our English learning from many different angles – not only through lessons but through the entire experience. As for the lessons themselves, even though we followed a shared curriculum, we were taught by different teachers, which allowed us to experience a variety of teaching approaches. Learning English from these different perspectives helped me discover not only areas where I needed to improve, but also strengths I hadn’t noticed before. I felt that each lesson offered something fresh, even when we were working through the same curriculum – a reflection of the creativity and care each teacher brought to their lessons. If we had simply read through the textbook and answered questions without any variation, it wouldn’t have mattered who the teacher was – the experience would have been the same. But that was certainly not the case here. In short, I was thoroughly satisfied with every aspect of IH Manchester and am deeply grateful for the experience. Thank you very much. I had an excellent experience with the school, because from the first day you could see the concern for their students. They evaluate you and place you in the appropriate grade level. You progress, and when appropriate, they move you up a grade. The teachers are excellent and dedicated to their students' learning.The staff will also be concerned about your needs. Negative experience: I would like to talk about my experience at the school, the school in general is excellent in terms of teachers and curriculum, but I have some complaints about one person, Joseph, because he is not good at dealing with students. When you study at the institute, he is good with you, but at the end of your days, his treatment changes and his true personality becomes clear. He is uncooperative, does not listen to the student, and speaks very rudely. This is my experience at IH Manchester School. I hope the situation improves because all students pay money and are away from their families and wish for better treatment than what Joseph currently provides.

Fantastic experience: IH Manchester gave me more than just a school experience. The friendly staff, the teachers who always made the classes fun, and the wonderful friends… Everything was perfect. The three months I spent in Manchester felt like only three days because everything went by so quickly, thanks to IH. I’m incredibly grateful for how they treated me like family. I’ll never forget all the activities they prepared with such care, especially the bowling I highly recommend this school to other Asians. Since there aren’t many other Asians here, it’s the best place to immerse yourself in English and improve quickly!

Fantastic experience: I attended the International House School. I had a good time. I met very competent and professional teaching staff, technical staff available to the needs of the students. Through the language courses the school enabled the integration of students who came from all over the world. The school was located right in the centre and therefore easily accessible. I felt at home in the host family, both in terms of food, accommodation and availability. Overall it was a good experience for me, also considering the fact that I am not a young person any more.

Fantastic experience: I attended this school for one month 10 years ago. I am happy to see that John, now director, is still there. I've been attending other language classes (English, German, French) and in 10 years (+ 8 previous years of language learning) I haven't experienced any such advanced and fun methods as the ones they use in this school. Here I have learned the concept of learning by "chunks", which I have never seen anywhere else and which I have been using to learn other languages (by myself).
