Welcome to Northgate High School and Sixth Form, a forward-thinking educational institution located in the heart of Ipswich, dedicated to nurturing the next generation of confident and capable learners. Situated at Sidegate Lane, our school is built on a foundation of three core values: Respect, Determination, and Teamwork. These principles guide our calm, positive, and disciplined learning environment, where we hold high expectations for both academic success and personal conduct.

We provide a stimulating and comprehensive curriculum that caters to students from Year 7 through to A-Levels. Our teaching is designed to be relevant and engaging, helping young people navigate the challenges of a fast-paced society. With a strong pastoral care system, we ensure that every student feels supported, building the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to thrive both in school and beyond. We are particularly proud of our inclusive approach, offering robust support for Special Educational Needs (SEN) and ensuring that wellbeing is at the forefront of our mission.

Our modern, purpose-built campus features state-of-the-art Arts and Sports Centre facilities that are shared with the wider community, promoting a strong link between the school and Ipswich. We believe in learning beyond the classroom, which is why we offer a vibrant array of extracurricular activities. From our popular Pokémon Club and literacy initiatives featuring author Ashley Hickson-Lovence, to science conferences and Royal Navy engagements, we provide diverse opportunities for students to explore their passions.

At Northgate, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the health, safety, and well-being of our children. Our dedicated staff, led by Headteacher Miss Rowena Mackie, work tirelessly to create a nurturing atmosphere where every individual can realize their full potential. Whether you are a parent, student, or community member, we invite you to experience the Northgate ethos firsthand. Join us in our journey of excellence, where determination meets teamwork, and respect leads the way.

Positive experience: It's not as good as they say it is: The behaviour isn't that nice: there's lots of fights everyday and students who have robbed the CO-OP and messes about near the train tracks. I guess this is mainly the newer students, as I only joined in September of 2017. Near the start of the year, the behaviour was nice; now students slack off way more. My class and year group, as I learnt, aren't behaved well. Not everyone but a minority makes it seem like the majority. It seems to make people hate school more and learning less interesting. Not all teachers are the best but most teachers teach very well. Only the bad behaviour of students make them seem not as good. The sports events there are good though and so are activities and such.
