Fantastic experience: I have almost completed two terms with our fabulous teacher who has been a delight! She’s so patient and makes the lessons fun and progressive. I was a complete beginner back in January and wondered if online lessons would be the right way forward but the lessons have been structured well and I’ve definitely made progress. I have already signed up for the next term and can’t recommend the school - and Elisa the teacher - highly enough . I’m also in a group of really great people so win win ! Grazie Elisa .☺️

Fantastic experience: Having completed one term of intermediate Italian with Elisa, I wanted to share how much I am enjoying the classes online. Elisa is friendly and encouraging and the exercises are appropriate for our level encouraging us to learn the grammar at the same time as a topic so that we can increase our vocabulary knowledge. Fantastic experience: I started out at St. Alban’s Italian School and really enjoyed the lessons. Since I’ve been taking these classes with Matteo, my understanding has progressed so much and I find my learning so much more rewarding. I find that Matteo really takes time to understand how I learn and teaches Italian in a way that I understand. I come from a background where I heard Italian a lot at home but I’ve never really understood grammar very well which has always got in the way of my learning. Matteo’s way of teaching really merges my experience of hearing the language to understanding how it works and because of this I have a deeper understanding of what I’m doing, my confidence in class and with learning has improved unbelievably and I no longer feel lost or held back by it. He creates such a relaxed environment with such patience that I can learn from my mistakes without feeling intimidated. I can’t thank Matteo enough for helping me love the process of learning Italian.

Fantastic experience: This is an excellent course, Matteo is a friendly teacher who explains things well and has high expectations. Homework is set and reviewed each week with the students. Different topics are covered in the lessons, giving us a broad understanding of Italian life and customs. Both individual and group work are included as well as teacher led parts. The on-line course can be accessed from anywhere, so I have studied whilst in Africa, Malta, on holiday in the UK, as well as from home. I can thoroughly recommend this course.

Fantastic experience: I really enjoy my Italian lessons with Matteo. The lessons are well planned, interesting and fun. There is a good balance between speaking practice, reading and grammar. I have been attending since 2021 and in addition to enjoying the lessons and making good progress, I have never had any cause to complain with the efficiency or organisation.

We meet weekly via Zoom which is super convenient! Everyone is very friendly and we're all very supportive of each other. Fantastic experience: I have been learning Italian for nearly 3 years and I absolutely love it! I can’t recommend it enough, the lessons are fun and very interesting , the 75 mins lesson goes so quickly, which says it all. I am very pleased with the progress I have made so far. Fantastic experience: UPDATE August 2024- It's now been over 4 years of learning Italian with Stefano's school and I'm very happy with the progress I've been making. Each course gradually introduces you to new vocabulary and grammar structures, whilst also refreshing previous tenses taught. It's delivered in a systematic way, so you don't feel overwhelmed and you can put what you learn into practise. I've really noticed the progress I've made and friends have been impressed with my level of comprehension and speaking. Stefano manages the online lessons really effectively; he ensures everyone has the opportunity to participate and lessons always include speaking, reading and listening. Thank you Stefano! I've been learning Italian with Stefano's Italian School of St Albans for over a year. I started at the 'absolute beginners' course and am now doing the 'intermediate' level. Every week I look forward to the class and know that I will be learning something new and challenging myself. Stefano makes the lessons fun and enjoyable, he doesn't shame anyone and normalises the challenges you may have with learning the language. It's great value for money and the change to online hasn't made a difference in the quality or experience. I moved to Italy recently and have continued with the weekly online lessons because I find the structured learning really useful to develop my speaking abilities. You can't learn a language from a book or in a few months... slow and steady wins the race!

Fantastic experience: I have loved learning with Elisa. The lessons are always well planned and set at a good pace so that we have the opportunity to ask about things we don't understand. The homework is manageable and my italian has improved to the extent that i can hold basic conversation. I am now looking to book a trip to italy so that i can put my learning into practice!

Fantastic experience: I have completed 8 modules with them. About half the current group have done the same - a ringing endorsement, The learning is a sensible intensity for non-linguists. It is a mixture of theory and examples. The main thing it is fun and the sessions are always enjoyable. Elisa works hard to it keep that way. I have already signed up for the 9th module. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn Italian that does or doesn't have a natural aptitude for languages.

Fantastic experience: Great online course to learn a new language. I have had the pleasure of having two instructors and both have been fabulous. Pace of each lesson is spot on. You never feel rushed to learn a new concept. Highly recommended if in market to learn a new language live.

Fantastic experience: I have absolutely loved my beginner's Italian course with Elisa. It was daunting at first but Elisa put us all at ease very quickly and the group are all great fun and we are all at a similar level with the same ability. I look forward to every Monday evening and I find it really stimulating. I can now understand Italian fairly well and speak it slowly but the confidence is increasing all the time. Fantastic experience: I really enjoy learning Italian with Flavia at the Italian School of St Albans. Flavia is an excellent teacher, she is always very patient and explains everything so clearly. Each lesson is a recap on what we have learnt in the previous session, then we talk through our homework, before beginning a new topic. There is plenty of time to practice in small groups and the homework set allows you to be sure you have grasped the subject and consolidate previous topics before we move on. I'm amazed at how far we have come in such a short space of time and absolutely look forward to continuing to learn Italian with Flavia.

The lessons were 75mins each x 10, with a mixture of teaching methods: tutor presenting and explaining, practice in breakout rooms and student homework. Fantastic experience: This is an excellent school to learn with. They are extremely good at communicating with you and are friendly and helpful in their approach to the learners. The teachers are excellent - preparing and issuing lesson plans ahead of the lesson; giving helpful feedback; marking the homework and creating a great learning environment. The content is very well judged in relation to the learners' capability and is interesting and engaging. The teachers are very responsive. The teacher Elisa engages with all members of the group and has a great sense of fun which makes the learning enjoyable. I have now progressed through three levels and am going on to my fourth.

Both teachers have been very good, patient and take time to explain all the grammar which took away any anxiety about not keeping up with other which I had before I started. The classes are virtual which is very convenient and I met really fun people from all age groups. I would really recommend it!

Fantastic experience: I have been learning Italian remotely with Stefano for a year and really enjoy the lessons. I was a little apprehensive as to how the remote lessons would work but Stefano manages them really well - especially the use of breakout rooms. He ensures everyone is involved. Fantastic experience: I have been learning Italian at this school for 2 years. The lessons are well planned with materials sent by email prior to each lesson. There is a lot of interaction and a lot of laughter. Since the outbreak of Covid -19 the lessons have successfully taken place online. Stefano is an excellent teacher - nothing like being taught Italian by an Italian with a great sense of humour. I look forward to my weekly lessons - haven’t missed one yet!

Fantastic experience: Have been attending lessons since 2017 and for the last year remotely. Well structured lessons which guide you patiently through the rules and irregularities of the Italian language and while you think you are struggling hey presto! It suddenly all makes sense. Excellent teaching and the classes have remained interesting and fun despite moving to an online format! Stefano is a patient and entertaining teacher who is an enabler. Highly recommended and now that it is online, easily accessible.

Fantastic experience: I attend Stefano's Intermediate group on Tuesday evenings and can highly recommend it. The lessons are an excellent mix of discussion, grammar, reading and fun topics and there is a great spirit amongst the group - mainly down to the enthusiasm of Stefano himself . In the COVID crisis, we have reverted to online Zoom classes and I am surprised that the standard and enjoyment has not diminished!

Fantastic experience: Ciao! If you want to have fun while learning Italian this is the place for you! It is nothing like learning a language at school. Topical and controversial subject matter (no matter how little Italian you know) in a friendly supportive class with a gifted teacher (Stefano). Lessons are well paced, full of debate and humour; everyone is included and at the end of each class the room is buzzing and zinging!

Fantastic experience: Stefano is by far the best language teacher I have ever known. His lessons are fun and light hearted, but at the same time he manages to teach grammar successfully! That's quite an unusual ability. The lessons are focused on all aspects of Italian, i.e. speaking, reading, listening and understanding, plus some writing and even comments about Italian society and current affairs. I would certainly recommend him to anyone without a moment's hesitation.

Fantastic experience: Stefano is an amazing teacher--his lessons are always interesting, and cover different topics so you learn more varied vocabulary. He teaches grammar in its natural setting, with examples to practice in class, where the atmosphere is lovely. There is written practice for every homework, which helps develop your knowledge of the language and ability to read and express yourself. I can now write easily in Italian, and can read stories with occasional dictionary help. Stefano has helped me go from stumbling and a bit lost, to a real feeling of fluency. What is more important, each lesson is conducted totally in Italian--I kind of despise teachers who do not teach a subject in the language itself! How artificial that would be! So you are speaking, reading, writing and understanding in Italian--there is nothing better, and no better teacher than Stefano!

Fantastic experience: It is often difficult find good quality language courses in my local area and so two years ago I was really pleased to find that there was a beginner's evening course starting in St Albans. I was pleased to find myself in group of similarly motivated people all keen to learn as much as possible about both the language and the culture. Stefano has been a very effective and encouraging teacher and has patiently corrected all of our mispronunciations and grammar mistakes. I was happy that the course progressed fairly rapidly from the beginning stages and has now reached the stage of being both challenging and stimulating. I look forward to continuing with the course next year.
