Fantastic experience: The best Spanish lessons and a lovely welcoming community in Cardiff! I began classes with Lucía three years ago, and have had the best time at lighthouse. Lucía puts so much thought, care and fun into the classes and conversation cafes, I couldn’t recommend more if you are looking for in person classes in Cardiff. Furthermore, lighthouse has a great a social community to practise speaking with too. Te amo lighthouse! ❤️❤️

Fantastic experience: I have nothing but praise for Lighthouse Spanish, especially Lucia - who teaches with so much passion, wit, and creativity. She takes into account your interests, your pace, and has such contagious energy! You find yourself practicing Spanish just because the chats are so much fun, and you're so looking forward to the next one. I would recommend these classes and social meetups for anyone looking to broaden their horizons, and develop their language skills at any level.

Fantastic experience: I had an amazing experience with Lighthouse Spanish Academy. I was a complete beginner when I started having 1-1 zoom sessions with Marina, about 1-2 times a week. Marina was great. She was always happy, fun and engaging. She helped me understand the thousand different questions going on in my head. You really do start to notice a difference in your speaking, and your ability to form sentences as you progress with the lessons - Marina really made all of this possible and I highly recommend her as a tutor! As well as this, Lucía and Delia were also extremely welcoming and friendly when I first met them at one of the Spanish socials at Bar 44 in town. It was a really lovely and friendly atmosphere for all abilities. I was naturally a little nervous having never learnt Spanish before, but they both put me at ease. Lucía has always been extremely accommodating with helping me to adjust my lessons where needed if I was busy. She even let me join one of the in person lessons when my tutor was away! The whole experience has been amazing. If you are new to Spanish … this is the best place to start!

Fantastic experience: I had a basic understanding of Spanish before joining Lighthouse Spanish Academy. I started my learning by attending classes with Lucia in a group of 6 people once a week. This was a 10 week course and I would highly recommend this to anyone thinking of starting to learn Spanish. I thoroughly enjoyed my classes in a group setting and it really helped me understand my current level. Lucia is a fantastic teacher and made me feel very welcome. Once the course had finished, I needed to find a different approach to learning due to work commitments and time, Lucia suggested online learning on a 1:1 basis, which would fit in with my schedule. This was superb for me and Lucia paired me with Carmen. What can I say, Carmen is brilliant and I have learnt so much with her. Carmen has truly taken the time to understand my learning style, recognises when I am having a bad learning day (brain overload) and adjusts the class to fit accordingly. My confidence has grown massively since taking the individual classes and I have now found myself being able to have some basic general conversations whilst visiting Spain. Carmen is very supportive and has accommodated changes in classes when needed, tailoring the learning based on how I am progressing. A fantastic teacher and is truly committed to supporting you through it all. If you are unsure where to start when it comes to learning Spanish, I would 100% say look no further. Lucia and Carmen have been amazing in helping me with my journey of learning Spanish. I will definitely look to join up with the classes in a group again later this year as well as continue with my 1:1 learning. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Had a fantastic experience with the academy - Lucía was really helpful throughout my course, she sourced me a teacher that met my specific needs and responded quickly to troubleshoot a couple of software issues along the way. Marina was very patient and tailored her teaching to my learning style, whilst pushing me to advance quickly both in the lessons and with homework. The course material and external resources provided are brilliant and I will continue to use them in my private study, and will be back to the academy if I need to advance my Spanish further in the future!

Fantastic experience: I have been having 1-2-1 Spanish lessons with Lighthouse Spanish Academy since March '23. I cannot praise my tutor (Lidia) highly enough. She makes the lessons fun & interesting; she is patient and she provides lots of encouragement. Lidia shares a Dropbox folder with me which includes lesson plans, notes from lessons and reading & learning materials. This is incredibly useful for revision between lessons. I looked at other options for Spanish lessons before deciding to choose Lighthouse and I am very happy with my decision. Lucía (the owner) offered me a free online consultation and we discussed what my level of Spanish was at already and what my goals were. This personal touch was what led me to think that Lighthouse would be the best option for me. Lighthouse also have a monthly social meet-up with past & present students. I haven't been able to attend one as yet due to other commitments, but, again, this is not something that you would get from other language schools/tutors. In summary, I highly recommend Lighthouse Spanish Academy. ¡Cinco Estrellas!

Fantastic experience: I have had weekly online conversation classes with Lighthouse for over a year now and I'm really grateful for the support I have received from the academy and from my tutor. My classes with Marina have been extremely valuable in improving my confidence in Spanish as well as being engaging and enjoyable, and she has been so patient and supportive throughout. Communication from Lucía and Marina has been excellent and they have always been understanding about rearranging classes if necessary. I would recommend Lighthouse to anyone looking to improve their Spanish at any level of ability.

Fantastic experience: I undertook weekly lessons online for a year. My Spanish developed from very basic phrases learned on duolingo to a level where I can get by and have basic but meaningful conversations with locals whilst out travelling Central America. I can’t thank Marina enough! The online lessons were interactive and engaging. The lessons were adapted to my circumstances, ability and understanding. My confidence in speaking has grown massively. Marina made me feel settled from the first lesson and used a variety of resources, making online learning feel as comfortable/ easy as a classroom setting. Fantastic experience: My daughter undertook Spanish classes on both a 1:1 and small group basis. The classes were excellent, building her confidence in a subject that she had previously found very difficult. The results showed in both her attitude to speaking Spanish, which she has begun to enjoy, and in the grades that she has achieved in school. Her tutor, Marina, made lessons engaging and enjoyable. Fantastic experience: I highly recommend this company to anyone serious about learning Spanish. The service is very friendly and professional in every way. I took 10 weekly conversational Spanish classes on line with Carmen in order to gain more confidence after some years of not using Spanish. I was unsure of how well the online scenario would work but Carmen is a very intuitive teacher and expertly tailored the classes to my own personal interests and learning style. She always sent feedback and after class notes very promptly through dropbox and her suggestions for further learning were hugely useful. Fantastic experience: I can personally attest to the quality of this place as lessons are creatively taught through an incredible variety of in lesson games. This, combined with an extensive repertoire of learning material, means lessons never became the "sit there and listen" nightmare you find with lesser quality tutors. The lessons are tailored to you and adapt to your needs and Lighthouse Spanish Academy enabled me to achieve my desired grade with a confidence I doubt I would have without them. While tutors are never a sure-fire way to guarantee a high grade, this place is as close as it gets with its professional and extremely well constructed lessons.

Fantastic experience: I've had weekly lessons for a year now with Lidia from Lighthouse. I'm a mature student (very mature at 59!) and I have had such a positive experience. Lidia is kind and patient and an excellent teacher. I really enjoy my lessons and look forward to them each week.

Fantastic experience: Having the support of Lighthouse Spanish Academy has gotten me through my A-levels and my University degree! Having that extra support network of native spanish teachers has enabled me to go over and clear up any doubts I had in my lectures with someone who knows my personal skill levels and capabilities. My classes with Lucia have been perfectly tailored towards my specific needs during both my A-levels and my degree in business & spanish. Fantastic experience: I’ve been taking weekly one-to-one classes online with Lighthouse Academy over lockdown and it’s become one of the highlights of my week. The classes are focused yet relaxed and fun and Lidia is a really supportive and engaging tutor who always tailors the classes to my interests and needs. We laugh a lot! I’ve never studied Spanish before so what I knew I’d picked up from spending quite a lot of time in Spain. Although I had quite a lot vocabulary, my use of grammar was very random! I feel I’ve made a lot of progress over the last few months and everything is coming together. I never anticipated that this process would be so rewarding and enjoyable and it’s been brilliant to use my brain in this way during the pandemic.  I wholeheartedly recommend both the organisation and Lidia – she’s a great tutor in every way. Fantastic experience: My husband and I have been having Spanish lessons with Lucia and then Lidia for a few months now and the progress we have made has been brilliant. Both teachers have put us at ease and made our lessons really varied and enjoyable and the difference it has made to our confidence and ability has been fantastic. Both Lucia and Lidia are patient and make the lessons fun and varied, with lots of different ways of learning, which suit both myself and my husband who have different learning styles. In recent weeks we have changed tutors to have classes with Lidia and she has taken the time to get to know us on a personal level which is helping us learn how to have conversations about things which are relevant to us. We were slightly daunted at the prospect of starting lessons during COVID but the Lighthouse Spanish team are well equipped for online learning and it hasn't been an issue at all. We would really recommend both Lucia and Lidia to anyone who is thinking about learning Spanish.

Fantastic experience: I had a long break from education and I found Lucía Balsa Pascual at Lighthouse Spanish Academy to help me with my Spanish AS and A level. I really can't speak highly enough about her, she is lovely, approachable and so easy to talk to, but at the same time she has pushed me in the right way to not only achieve my goals but to be at the best standard I can be. The classes are interactive and fun, definitely challenging in the right ways and also an excellent price! In all honesty, I know that without her help I would not have progressed as far as I have or had the confidence I have developed over the last months. Can not recommend more highly!

Fantastic experience: I have had lessons with The Lighthouse Spanish Academy for nearly 6 months and it has been absolutely brilliant. I have weekly personalised Spanish lessons via Zoom, and it's a real highlight of my week. Lucía and her team are friendly, knowledgeable and encouraging - giving me the confidence boost I needed to push forward my Spanish. Her lessons are engaging and fun, and she's got me talking about topics in Spanish that I can barely talk about in English! It truly feels like talking to an old friend. She tailors the class to my weaknesses and I've made so much progress. Communication with Lighthouse has always been extremely easy, and Lucía has been very flexible around my hectic doctors' rota. I can't recommend this company enough!

Fantastic experience: Lucía is an excellent teacher. I have benefitted from her support for the last 2.5 years and my Spanish has progressed immeasurably. She takes a flexible approach to learning, taking the time to prepare interesting and varied approaches to embed key themes and the complexities of grammar. Best of all, we have a laugh and I very much look forward to my lessons, which even before covid we were mostly doing online (which she is well set up for), further increasing flexibility and convenience. Lucía is also teaching my two kids, who are taking Spanish as an additional subject at GCSE. They are coming along leaps and bounds. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: I really enjoy my lessons with Lidia. She is an excellent teacher and she brings her knowledge of Spanish history and culture into the lessons which I like very much. The course material is very good and it makes learning fun. Lidia makes sure the lessons are at the right pace for me, and every week we do lots of revision as well as learning new things. I've been having Spanish lessons for about six months and I'm making good progress and gaining more confidence each week.

Fantastic experience: I have been keen to learn Spanish for a few years and used various tools. CDs. Babel. Reading. And to some extent gained ability. Since I started having lessons with Lidia - I’ve progressed beyond my expectations. 7 lessons in and I am more confident. Learning. I love the lessons - which are fun and interactive. I am starting to think in Spanish a bit too. I like the mix between conversation, grammar, sentence structure and stuff to just learn. Like verbs and numbers etc X I highly recommend Lighthouse if you want to learn in a warm encouraging environment. We have a laugh too.

Fantastic experience: My wife and I have been trying to learn Spanish using on line Apps for several years with limited success. We decided that to have any chance of speaking with a native Spaniard we needed some one-to-one help. Lighthouse Academy to the rescue! We see our trainer, Lucia, for an hour every fortnight. Lucia prepares thoroughly before our lessons and uses a range of teaching techniques to enable us to get the best from each carefully structured lesson. Lucia is extremely patient with our mistakes and gives us constructive feedback during the lessons. We are already feeling much more confident that in time we will be able to make ourselves understood in Spain. Fantastic experience: After studying Spanish in university over 20 years ago I wanted to revisit my Spanish studies and refresh my language skills. Lucía was the perfect person to help me do this. I’ve encountered several language teachers and can honestly say that Lucía is one of the finest. She tailors lessons to my interests and areas that I’d like to brush up on. Lessons are planned meticulously and are fast paced. She uses various teaching resources and methods which means lessons are never dull. She has an enthusiasm for her language and teaching it and is very skilled. My level and confidence has improved enormously since I’ve been taking classes with her.
