I've had three different teachers and all of them have been fantastic, kind, and patient. Fantastic experience: I’ve been studying at the school since October 2023 as a way to refresh my mandarin. It’s been great! It’s the first school I found that taught to the level I was at and I’ve enjoyed the lessons and the different methods used by the teacher. I’ve also been getting to know other students in the class, which has been really nice and an unexpected bonus of signing up to the course - some of us all recently went out for hotpot as a group. I’m looking forward to stepping into HSK 5 and pushing myself more in the next semester.

Fantastic experience: Love every bit of this course! School gives you all sorts of materials - books, podcasts, online reviews, apps. Classes are not too big, so everyone has enough time for questions. Our teacher Jasmine is very warm and attentive, I think she instinctively knows when we might have challenges and pays more attention to that. Of course, it also depends on how much you are willing to put your time and efforts to that. I was considering this course for a long time, my only regret now I haven’t started it sooner.

Fantastic experience: Took part in our first Mahjong lesson. The session lasts 2 hours.The rules were carefully explained and we were given notes to help us. We managed to play a few games (4 to a table) by the end with oversight by one of the tutors. It is a game of skill which will take some time to master but we enjoyed our first session very much

Billy is a great teacher making the lessons fun and interesting, this helps along with the homework in retaining the language. Fantastic experience: I enrolled my Daughter in the Japanese Beginner 1 course earlier this year, in preparation for a trip to Japan. She was made to feel very welcome and gained confidence, along with useful phrases to help her to socialise in Japan. Dear Asia have been excellent communicators right from my initial enquiry, so I feel very comfortable with my child attending as they are on it and very professional. The community within the group, and Dear Asia as a whole, is friendly and I like that they actively do social activities to boost learning and fun! Fantastic experience: A good experience! The first time I’ve done any language learning (or grammar!) since school, so I was a bit apprehensive, but the school is very welcoming, the small group size helps and our teacher is very patient! There is a lot to cover each week so study time outside of the classes is also definitely needed but it is good to get the slides to help go over again and also a textbook. Good location right by the tube and everyone is very friendly and helpful.

Fantastic experience: I am studying with teacher Sia in Chinese beginner 1 class and it had been a pleasant experience very fun and easy. I thought it might be hard to learn Chinese, but Sia reassures us that we are doing great. The books provided are also nice tools to start studying and practicing Chinese

The group was a lot of fun, and our teacher, Woori, was fantastic – she set a good pace throughout the course. I really appreciated the emphasis on getting pronunciations right, which I couldn't have done through self-study :)

The teachers are very accommodating if you have to miss a lesson, and even record it for you, so you don't miss out. They share many resources and tips to help further your learning outside of the classroom. Would definitely recommend :)

Fantastic experience: I’ve done 3 parts of the intensive beginner japanese course. The teacher is flexible and responsive, we get to ask as many questions as we need. The group is small which allows for plenty of participation, the lessons are different each time. I would sometimes like MORE homework but other weeks I struggle to do what is assigned to me, so I think the amount is good overall! Money well spent.

Positive experience: I’ve been dreaming of taking a kintsugi class ever since I read about it in a book on wabi sabi, and I came into this experience with high hopes. As someone who loves to focus on the positives, I’ll start by saying I had a lot of fun with certain parts—breaking the bowl was oddly satisfying, and I genuinely enjoyed learning the different techniques for applying the glue and gold powder. However, there were a few aspects that left me feeling disappointed. First, finding the location was frustrating. The email clearly mentioned heading to the 4th floor, but after being redirected multiple times and wandering for about 15 minutes, we finally found the class—on a completely different floor—by sheer luck. During the session itself, I was only halfway through repairing my piece when they ran out of glue, which was disheartening. Most importantly, the process of kintsugi is meant to be meditative and slow, requiring patience and attention to detail. With only an hour allotted—and a good chunk of that spent waiting to use the hammer—the experience felt rushed. A smaller group size would’ve allowed the demonstrators to offer more personalized guidance, especially for subtle techniques like applying pressure or prioritizing certain fragments to reduce excess glue. I truly hope these issues can be addressed, as this class has the potential to be a deeply beautiful and memorable experience for future participants.

Positive experience: I've taken one Japanese group class with Dear Asia and so far so good. Ryuichi-sensei frequently speaks a lot of Japanese in class and encourages natural conversation, which is really useful for listening comprehension. The classes are super engaging and you get to learn nuances and context beyond what is in textbooks for a more natural-sounding Japanese. I recommend trying a class if you've hit a road-block with self-study or if you feel you don't have many opportunities to practically apply what you've learnt.

Fantastic experience: I have been through 2 terms of the Chinese learning course and have found the teaching to be of an excellent standard. The focus early on practical speaking and listening is a big plus for me. The accompanying workbooks are at a suitable level for fast learning beginners!

So much thought and care is put into the planning of the lessons that also allows you to learn about the culture and history of the language. My teacher, Elly, was incredibly kind and caring. She was always more than happy to go over any areas were I didn't quite grasp the concept first time or to answer any additional questions I had throughout the course. Fantastic experience: I am reaching the end of my first term learning Mandarin Chinese with Dear Asia and am really enjoying it! Gen Laoshi is an excellent teacher and the learning materials are very good. The pace is just right to learn something new every week without being overwhelmed. I like that every 5th lesson is a review lesson to go over what you've learnt, and the review podcasts for studying between lessons are so helpful for reminding you how to pronounce words. If you are a beginner wanting to learn Mandarin, I definitely recommend this course. It's pitched just right and is a good balance of learning and fun! Even though I'm usually exhausted from work by Wednesday evening, I never regret going to class!
