Fantastic experience: Highly recommended. I'm an adult learner of French and OSF has helped me get much better, much faster than the other courses/apps I tried. I now feel really confident with both grammar and general conversation. My tutor brings a high level of academic rigour to our lessons, but always keeps them exciting, supportive and personalised. As a result, I have reached the formal proficiency level I needed, but also French has become something I really enjoy.

Fantastic experience: In weekly individual lessons, I have made good progress with Claire, who has lots of teaching experience and has tailored the sessions to my requests. We have studied two challenging novels alongside grammatical principles and exercises and French conversation.

She was always so well prepared with grammar exercises that helped fill in some of the gaps in my knowledge and interesting materials that fitted my interests. My French improved hugely over the course of my time with OSF. I would definitely recommend.

Fantastic experience: I have been learning French for the past 12 weeks with Anissa. Anissa is a fantastic teacher and made the learning process fun and exciting. We have been learning over microsoft teams which can sometimes be challenging but Anissa makes it easy and enjoyable. I feel like I have achieved a lot more than expected in the last 12 weeks and the time has flown by. I find myself looking forward to the lessons every week and feeling very proud of myself afterwards. I would recommend the Oxford School of French and in particular, Anissa, to anybody. Fantastic experience: I spent a year learning French through OSF in preparation for a move to Canada, and it was an absolute pleasure from beginning to end. Beyond some time spent with Duolingo, I joined with zero knowledge of the language My tutor was encouraging and friendly, with our weekly evening sessions being something that I started to quickly look forward to. They were always easy to reorganise as needed, and we built up a friendship that helped to get the most success possible out of each lesson I want to say thank you to the other staff I've worked with here, they were always friendly and prompt with responses, clearly taking an interest in my eventual destination In short, it's clear that everyone here cares about the students that enroll, and want the best for them in their journey. They've given me the ability to pick up a book in a second language, or to have conversations with people in their own (with a lot of umm'ing and arr'ing in my part!). I can't thank nor recommend them enough for that :)

Fantastic experience: I joined a B2/C1 weekly class for three terms and really enjoyed it. The 90-minute online format with a small group is great, fun and relaxed with plenty of opportunity for each of us to speak, without it feeling intense. Our tutor Ons was fabulous and led us through plenty of different and interesting activities - listening/reading comprehension, discussion and conversation, even some literary criticism, along with necessary grammar. We took it in terms to bring topics to speak to and then discuss. I certainly feel more confident speaking.

Fantastic experience: My daughter has been learning French at the Oxford School of French for almost a full academic year now. They study for a demanding IB programme. They started with a GCSE level of French and since September last year have been tutored by Tristan, who is a wonderful teacher. Tristan established a fantastic rapport with my daughter and helped them to achieve the highest grade at the end of this year. His approach is gentle, yet challenging, which is a combination which worked for us perfectly. The communication with the school and the admin side of things have been very smooth and pleasant. Overall we are really really pleased with our experience with the school.

Fantastic experience: From a tutor's perspective, teaching at Oxford School of French is quite satisfactory: the school offers the right balance between accompanying its tutors when they need guidance or advice, and leaving them the freedom to teach the way they think is going to be relevant to the students they know. The fact that the school takes at heart to keep the number of students in a class to a minimum, and that private tutorials are also a norm enables me to adapt my classes to my students, and offer a personalized teaching experience. I feel free to explore different approaches to French lessons with my students based on their expectations, but I also feel like I am not alone. I think the students feel that touch and enjoy having a teacher that knows them and creates the right class to answer their needs.

Fantastic experience: I have had the chance to teach at OSF for almost ten months now. It has been one of the most rewarding teaching experiences I have had. The flexibility of the timetable and the small class sizes make the quality of teaching much better for us and for the students. Working with the OSF team is absolutely great! Fantastic experience: “One of the best decisions I’ve ever made”. Since starting as a student in July 2022, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time with the ‘Oxford School of French’ (OSF). Everyone at the school from the administration to my 'BRILLIANT' tutor in Paris has been absolutely charming and a real pleasure to deal with in all aspects of the process. As a very mature student in my early 60’s I opted to have ‘One to One' tuition via ‘Zoom’ and it’s proved to be a wise decision, as its allowed me to progress at my own speed to the point now where I’m feeling very confident around the fundamental understanding of the language and grammar. 'Merci beaucoup et chapeaux' - to everyone at the (OSF), especially my tutor !. I look forward to my continued learning of this beautiful & elegant language.

Fantastic experience: Great experience of learning French on Zoom in a diverse small team for a lower intermediate level. The course is well structured and provides an opportunity to practice speaking and listening, as well as good foundations of grammar. The teacher is a native French speaker who is able to give nuanced explanations of the contemporary language. Totally recommend it!

Fantastic experience: I have been attending weekly classes with the Oxford School of French for about 6 years. Since the pandemic the lessons are all online and that works really well. I have had the same teacher for about 4 years and he is brilliant! However if we ever need to have a different teacher for a week or two, they are always excellent too. The lessons are well prepared and always at an appropriate level. They are a good balance of conversation, text book and grammar. My French has improved from virtually nothing to the ability to have a reasonable conversation about current affairs. I would recommend the Oxford School of French without hesitation

Positive experience: The teaching is really good and Anissa, my tutor, makes the learning feel very relaxed while actually bringing my French along at a good pace. The price is quite a lot but overall really happy with the Oxford School of French.

Fantastic experience: I've recently started one-on-one lessons with the Oxford School of French, having previously studied French decades ago at school. The tutor is very engaged and she established upfront exactly what my intentions were in terms of learning French. For instance, I said I really wanted to get my pronunciations right and she notices every time I get it wrong and perseveres with me. The lessons are also pitched at exactly the right level - challenging but not too challenging. I'm learning so much and I look forward to every session.

Fantastic experience: Very happy with my experience with this school. The weekly 2-hour lessons are demanding and it is easy to observe progress amongst fellow students and oneself. The tutors I have had have all been engaging, knowledgeable and supportive, it is also very good to be able to revise lessons from notes posted online by the tutor. Recommended.

Fantastic experience: My teacher Amal is very professional, very helpful and extremely knowledgable. I find my experience with the Oxford School of French good value for money. I have had less than 20 lessons and I can make simple but structured conversations in french starting from a complete beginner.

Fantastic experience: I've nearly completed my first 12 week course with OSF and it has been a really good learning experience. Nawelle is a great tutor and does the online classes so well. The pace is quite fast, which I like, helped by the small class sizes.

We are extremely impressed by her tutor: she has been a thoughtful and effective teacher. To begin with, they worked on conversational French, but since then they have focused on specific parts of the GCSE syllabus, which has been extremely helpful.

Fantastic experience: I have been taking Advanced French Classes at the Oxford School of French for over a year now, and I have loved every single class we've had with our tutor. Our discussions are always very engaging, giving everyone the chance to take part in them, and creating a lovely, friendly atmosphere which has been great for practicing my French! Going through vocabulary and grammar, and having a great tutor who would take the time to explain in detail all the grammar we went through, has also greatly benefited me, as I feel that I understand the language to a much deeper level. Without the shadow of a doubt, I would recommend the School to anyone who would like to start studying French, or who, like me, would like to start using what they learn back in school or college.

The OSoF team cobbled together an intensive two-week course tailored for my needs (French diplomatic conversation), using the vocabulary, exercises, and targeted work needed to refresh my French language skills. Fantastic experience: I've wanted to learn French for a while but have been worried about 'wasting my money' and not learning enough to feel like it was 'worth it.' The Oxford School of French has been INCREDIBLE. The lessons are full, but not overwhelming and my teacher, Lisa, adapts lessons to suit specific mistakes i make or things i'm interested in. I cannot recommend them more!

Fantastic experience: Having had online lessons for several weeks now, the one to one tuition has been invaluable. Initially, I signed up for a few lessons as a refresher yet now I'm continuing due to the unexpected amount of progress that I have made. Fantastic experience: The Oxford School of French is an extremely relaxing and fun environment to learn French. We are a small group of 4 which enables us all to participate fully in our lesson. The topics we discuss are interesting and relevant. We have just finished a topic on Press and Media. The lessons are well structured, starting with each of us talking briefly about what we have done in the previous week, review of our homework (grammar, reading or preparation for a talk about a given subject), a dictation and listening comprehension e.g. small radio clip or video clip. Our teacher is great- knowledgeable, enthusiastic and encouraging. I would thoroughly recommend anyone who is interested in learning French to come to The Oxford School of French. Rachel King

Fantastic experience: Okay, in my opinion the language school is excellent. My siblings have been schooled many different language schools over the years in the UK, but we all seem to think most highly of Alliance Francaise, and specifically the branch in Oxford's summertown. The mood of the premises are truly French, which is always quite amusing! When you enter and leave 16 Polstead Road(!) you feel like you're entering and leaving a French consultar premises! Such is testament to the authenticty of the environment, which indeed transfers into a perfect educational environment for emerssive tuition. My A-level in French was easily passed, with the skills and confidence I gained at AF in Oxford. Thanks from me and my parents.

Fantastic experience: Warmly recommended, to be frank! My kids attended Alliance Francaise D'Oxford back in winter 2012 and thoroughly benefitted from the experience. My wife is French and my kids are bilingual, but because they don't have much contact hours with my wife, we wanted to boost their fluency and confidence. At the French school in Polstead Rd., they learned French in an incredible fun and positive environment. The tutors trick the kids into seeing French-speaking as a game to enjoy! It's pretty remarkable. Our kids LOVED attending the school every week. Miraclous, in my eyes!

Fantastic experience: I am currently a student at the Oxford School of French and I cannot rate my experience highly enough. In a very short time the tutor has unlocked some key knowledge and understanding about how aspects of the language work. Straight away I am using structures with confidence when previously I would have struggled to cobble together a correctly formed sentence. It is exciting that in the right hands I am making such progress and a whole new world is opening up for me as a competent French language user.

Fantastic experience: The Oxford School of French may be only three years old but Jose Strawson has long experience of language teaching in Oxford. Although she taught within the University for a number of years, it was as director of the Alliance Francaise in Oxford for 27 years that she made her real mark. Teaching has always taken place at her large comfortable North Oxford house, where the pleasant surroundings and relaxed atmosphere have never compromised the exacting standards of study. Jose has also translated English fiction into French, and is as steeped in English culture as she is in her native one. I cannot imagine a better place in England to study French.

Fantastic experience: Oxford School of French is a great place to learn. The small classes and tutors make learning French fun and inspires me to be better. I look forward to my lesson each week and it has me reading, writing and speaking French in a way that I feel I'm improving quickly!

Fantastic experience: I taught French at the OSF from January to May 2016. It was an awesome experience that I will never forget. Students are really serious, motivated and hard-working. I really enjoyed being able to teach private classes or to small groups : to me, this is the best quality teaching. I will also always remember the lovely settings in which the classes take place, it adds some magic to learning!
