Fantastic experience: I’m currently learning Italian as part of the ‘beginners from scratch’ group and I would fully recommend learning with Stefano. I started my lessons in January knowing not a single word of Italian! 9 weeks later, I can talk about myself, ask questions of others, and most importantly I have a firm grasp of present tense grammar. If the thought of grammar makes you want to cry (which honestly is how I felt!) then Stefano is the person for you! He was incredibly patient, he never made me feel silly for getting things wrong, and when it clicked into place a lot of the language made so much more sense. The thought of a group environment felt intimidating but because Stefano puts so much effort into ensuring the group is balanced and largely equivalent in ability, it feels like a safe space. I’m so genuinely surprised at how much I know and how confident I feel, and even better, I can actually use what I have learnt in conversation!

He always keeps the focus on improving our Italian communication skills, on interaction with and between the students, and even when we're doing grammar, Stefano tries to put this into an engaging and practical activity. The groups are aren't too big so everyone is able to actively participate and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. I have found the lessons with Il Maestro great fun, engaging, and practical! Fantastic experience: Stefano is a great teacher he adapts pace to my level of learning and never pressure's me too much to learn faster than I'm comfortable doing unlike other teachers. That being said he sets weekly tasks for me and his community to complete too which are light-hearted and fun. He also makes great informative YouTube videos ,which are great for refreshers . I do 1on1 but I know he also does group classes too. I'm amazed how much I've learnt in the 6 weeks we have been together and confident I can become fluent in no time at all !

Fantastic experience: I joined this Italian group class about 8 weeks ago and it’s been a fantastic experience! Before this, I had mostly been learning on my own, but I was really looking for more opportunities to speak and interact — and this class delivered exactly that. We meet every Thursday, and each lesson is not only engaging but genuinely fun. The group size is just right, which means everyone gets a chance to participate. Stefano does a brilliant job of making sure each session is well-structured, interactive, and tailored to help us improve our speaking and listening skills. I’ve noticed a real boost in my confidence when speaking Italian, and I always look forward to the next class. Highly recommended for anyone looking to build their language skills in a supportive and enjoyable environment!

Positive experience: Stefano has been a welcome change of pace on my Italian journey. In the previous 18 months, I had attended a number of classes at colleges or universities to try to learn Italian. They were good and brought their own strengths and weaknesses but you get what your expect in a "classroom" environment. It meant I was (relatively) good with writing and understanding Italian. With Stefano, he wants to bring all your skills on, including your listening and speaking. He always makes us read aloud, slowing down the pronunciation of key words and conversing with us in Italian. My partner has mentioned that she thinks my spoken italian has improved whether that's with the continued use in Stefano's class or the confidence that he's given me. If you want to improve your speaking and listening, then I'd recommend il Maestro to you!

Fantastic experience: Myself and my husband have been learning Italian with Stefano (aka Il Maestro) for 4 years and despite neither of us being natural linguists we have still managed to progress well enough to be able to converse when it Italy. I personally have trouble with the various Italian pronouns and how they should be used, so it was with great interest for me to participate in the two live streams he's held on the subject the last two weeks. Fantastic experience: I started my lessons with Stefano about two years ago and I can only say I wish I had started sooner! I never thought I would make such quick progress, as I had never taken a single lesson and had only picked up some vocabulary from listening to my partner speak with his family. I am now able to communicate with them, which is giving me (and them!) such joy. I am not a big fan of complicated grammar… which there is a lot of in Italian! Stefano has managed the difficult task of making me not only learn the rules, but also understand and remember them. His way of teaching is very engaging and the small groups make it easy to ask any question any time. The lessons are always engaging and fun (even the grammar ones) and we use a variety of resources which really helps embed the learning. Fantastic experience: I have long wanted to learn Italian. In the New Year, I decided that Duolingo could only take me so far: I needed an expert. What I found was Stefano - and I was delighted; he couldn’t be better informed, he couldn’t be more Italian, except for his rather strange eating habits (no pasta or pizza, lots of broccoli and chicken) but these have, as yet, not had a serious impact on my linguistic and cultural education. Stefano is il Maestro, an impossibly handsome preening peacock of a demi-god, who is equally comfortable talking about football and film, literature and love, and all the essentials of a modern life. Each lesson is an adventure - a journey into a tortured mind, whose owner demands energetic team therapy, and all in the lingua of il bel paese. Quite often, it’s great fun. And we learn grammar too.

The teacher/maestro is amazing and very inclusive to the group’s learning speed and brings a lot of helpful examples and ways of learning (even with a bit of Italien history lessons ). One of the most outstanding quality is his motivation and passion to keep the students going. Even in times when you think you are falling behind he will convincing encourage to keep on! But he doesn’t seem to be able to recognise that I am not French! Highly recommendable!!!

Fantastic experience: Having started to learn Italian at college a few years ago, I wanted to pick it up again, get more practice, and learn useful Italian beyond the tourist basics. Stefano adapts his lessons to the speed and ability of the group and doesn't teach 'at' us, but let's us work things out and explains why phrases are constructed in a certain way, or the history of certain words. This all helps you to pick up themes and remember the rules of the language without memorising lists of words or phrases. I'm really enjoying the lessons and feel I will be much better prepared on my next trip to Italy. It's a really relaxed and friendly atmosphere during the lessons and I can thoroughly recommend Learning with Il Maestro. Thank you Il Maestro for the journey so far..... But please don't feel the need to sing every lesson!

Fantastic experience: Buongiorno Having tried and failed with Duolingo, I've been learning Italian with Il Maestro for just over two years, both in classroom and on line. I've never been particularly great with languages but I have made real progress, although there is still a lot to learn. The courses are hard work, but in a fun, friendly and supportive environment, using a variety of different teaching methods, and all course material is available offline. Il Maestro has also created a good community for students outside the course, with online quizzes and other social events. If you want to learn Italian this is the way to do it.

The intermediate group dynamic works well and the teacher is patient and witty, time elapses quite quickly during class. I would recommend learning Italian with Stefano because he is highly qualified, very knowledgeable, yet easygoing, and you’d get the benefit of a native speaker that can transmit invaluable insight into the language and culture.

Fantastic experience: I have been attending Stefano's weekly Italian group classes online for over a year now and can honestly say that I have enjoyed all of them. Every lesson has been interesting and fun. Il Maestro is always very professional and a great teacher, who uses lots of different resources.

Fantastic experience: I have been studying with Italian tutor Stefano, otherwise known as Il Maestro, for around 18 months now. I attend a regular Italian group online class and have also joined several of the special group workshops that Stefano runs. During this time, I have found that my grasp of Italian grammar has improved markedly. My listening and comprehension skills have also improved noticeably – I can read well and can now pick up 30-50% of the dialogue when watching Italian films and TV shows without subtitles. Currently, my personal focus is to develop confidence to speak Italian with more fluency. The variety of subjects we have covered has contributed greatly to this; subjects such as Italian cinema, popular music, Italian food and cooking and even talking ‘dirty’ Italian. Stefano is an attentive teacher who has an uncanny knack for picking up on what each class member needs. He is patient, allowing each student to think at their own pace, and he is also determined that we speak Italian every available moment during classes and workshops. His lessons and workshops are always engaging and great fun.

Fantastic experience: When I first met il Maestro (Stefano), I was a little nervous about how I would be able to learn a new language. But through his amazing patience, structured lessons and ability to be flexible to my learning style, Stefano has progressed me from a novice, to an almost fluent speaker of Italian. As well as being very qualified (a Dr no less), he presents thoughtful learning units, both 121 and group based, which involve interesting vocabulary, frustrating grammar, all bound together with fun dialogue. He balances textbook and schoolroom study with videos, music and games, as well as themed study groups, such as cookery, film and music. Really enjoyed my learning so far and look forward to more!

Fantastic experience: I have known Stefano - aka "Il Maestro" - for some four years and can recommend him warmly as a great teacher of Italian. His group and one-to-one lessons are thoughtfully resourced,, dynamic and great fun as he keeps the mood light but purposeful. Stefano's general approach is always fresh and considered, as he brings his expert knowledge of Italian to bear in ways which make learning enjoyable and stimulating. He is particularly good at pitching his level to suit the needs of the individual student while his broad knowledge of Italian culture enriches the learning experience.

Fantastic experience: Il Maestro is an outstanding teacher of Italian, whom I would recommend wholeheartedly. He is highly qualified and teaches in both his native Italian and fluent English, which has helped me progress. His approach is thorough, with focussed learning of all the elements of the language, delivered in a truly fun way! He creates numerous opportunities for speaking the language in a variety of different, and frequently, highly amusing situations. This is important as a learner of a new language where you can struggle to speak, but the carefully supported chats mean that you can venture to speak without any anxiety. In addition to the weekly lessons, he also offers workshops which concentrate on a particular topic e.g. Italian cinema, music or aspects of grammar which further develop vocabulary or cultural interests. I enjoy every single lesson!
