Fantastic experience: After three years of learning via phone apps i decided to take the leap into real classes at Instituto Cervantes. The classes are small enough to feel comfortable to make mistakes whilst building your confidence to speak and generally have fun learning a new language. Antonio was a patient, knowledgeable and fun teacher who slowly builds your understanding without jumping in too far to feel lost. I will be enrolling for next season and would recommend anyone serious about learning Spanish to do the same.

Fantastic experience: Have just finished the Autumn term studying B1.1 and plan to do more courses in the future. There's a good spread of classes with different levels to choose, meaning its tailored to your level which is good and everyone is on the same page. Classes are organised and engaging. The extra conversation classes arranged by Ana and Sergio were a highlight for me.

Negative experience: Two stars for the Institue’s facilities and academic rigour. But the insistence on an ‘immersive experience” and instruction according to “modern pedagogical theory” left me struggling to understand the content and learning objectives in the classroom. The recommended textbook has no English at all, so I had to translate line by line using Google to work out what each page was about. My emails to my tutor asking for help locating homework assignments were ignored. I gave up after 6 weeks, confused, frustrated and disappointed by the experience.

Fantastic experience: Attending classes at the Cervantes accelerated my learning more than anything else I have done . The teachers are greate and the classes are fun and challenging. There is also a wealth of extra activities; I love the film screenings and live music they put on in the institute.

Fantastic experience: Great place to learn spanish and experience spanish cultural events. Professional tuition in a very friendly atmosphere.

Fantastic experience: I have completed 2 terns of courses at the Cervantes Institute in Manchester and I intend to return for more! It’s a good central location close to the tram stop and the teachers are excellent. Working with native speakers in a supportive environment and with a small group of enthusiastic learners has helped me to be more confident about speaking Spanish. If you are thinking about it, go for it!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been learning Spanish at Instituto Cervantes since September 2023. I have now completed all 5 of the elementary courses and hold level A2. There is no better place to learn Spanish. The centre itself is a hub of activity with a library and events to help you practice your language learning. Very little English is spoken in class unless absolutely necessary and you feel very immersed in the Spanish language and culture - learning about Spanish speaking countries across the world, not just Spain. The course is clear and easy to follow, with homework set every week. Exams are optional and not a prerequisite to doing the next stage. I’d highly recommend if you are interested in learning Spanish, improving your Spanish or if you speak Spanish and want to mix with other Spanish speakers.

Fantastic experience: I have just completed a CEFR B1.1 (intermediate]course at Instituto Cervantes de Mánchester. 30 hours , which was 12 weekly Lessons of 2.5 hours. The Teacher was a native speaker ,from Spain ,who was highly experienced in her field. Lessons were well structured ,incorporating all 4 language skills. Lessons were fun and just about the right amount of homework each week. I highly recommend Instituto Cervantes de Mánchester.

Fantastic experience: Just finished my first course with Beatriz at Instituto Cervantes. It was better than I imagined. Only 5 students, well-structured classes and lots of conversational practice. I would only rather have a few 1-hour long classes a week rather than one 3-hour long class.

Fantastic experience: Just finished the B2.3 course and have been taking classes at the Manchester Instituto Cervantes for three years now. All the teachers I have had made the classes interactive and put an emphasis on speaking in Spanish (from the first class). The teacher method is very robust as it makes you progress with useful vocabulary and regular grammar points without you noticing the effort. Would recommend to new students without hesitation.

Fantastic experience: I have been visiting Spanish classes at Instituto de Servantes. I so love it it, I enjoy learning this beautiful language and I met a lot of beautiful people here. Especially Great Thanks to our teacher Geraldine She is not only a wonderful professor, but a lovely person as well. She will always talk to you, help when she can Once she even took her personal time to talk to me when I needed a support . So she is a gem And as she is from Latina America we have an opportunity to learn how to say some idiomas in Spanish and Latino America (some words and expressions might be little bit different ). Also she always tries to entertain us and brings a lot of interaction for the lessons, for example when we were learning about food she brought us a national food of Venezuela to try and after we were cooking by ourselves and learning the words. And the process was such interesting and helped to learn the words quickly Also teachers (we had Ana, Elvira) and all all there are friendly, superpofessional and supportive So those who want to learn Spanish, the culture and vibes of beautiful Spain and Latino American go to Servantes! It is an amazing place

Positive experience: Completed a Winter course with Cervantes online. This was my first time with Cervantes and I have booked another one for Spring. - Placement test: written (online) and oral (phone call from one of the teachers). I was nervous about this but I felt I was placed in just the right level! - Online course: I live 1.5h away from Cervantes so the online option is very convenient. The teacher will split us into breakaway groups to discuss exercises, and with the screen sharing mode he was also able to type in notes or highlight certain passages from the textbook. I think it's done very well for online course to make it interactive. - Drawback: Sometimes even though I have been a student with Cervantes for a few months, it feels a bit isolated - like I'm not always up to date with events coming up etc. Although I do get emails every now and then. Also some cultural events clashed with my class, which is Thursday evening (all cultural events seem to take place Thu evening!). - Progress with Spanish: I combine the course with other activities: like watching Spanish films, reading Spanish stories/newspaper, and Duolingo. I find progress on grammar is a bit slow in Cervantes class, with more focus on oral conversation. I also wish that the course syllabus is paired a bit more closely to the DELE exams. Update Dec 2024: Have completed 4 courses now with Cervantes and will continue to enroll next year :) Great teachers and very good vibe in our online class!

Fantastic experience: I’ve always wanted to learn Spanish and I am so interested in the Spanish culture and been thinking to join the classes at Instituto Cervantes for years. I did a level test and the service was incredible and very easy then got placed in B1.4 level. The sign up process was a breeze and the classes were very welcoming and informative. Now I have way more confidence speaking Spanish and my vocabulary bank increased so much. All thanks to Cervantes and my wonderful teacher Ana! They also do incredible cultural events including flamenco shows, dance classes, culinary events, book clubs and movie screenings. Great selection of books that will be free to borrow once you enroll. Totally recommend

Fantastic experience: I have just finished by initial course at Cervantes and would wholly recommend this. The learning is well structured to support your progress. There are many opportunites to practice at every stage and lots of encouragement from the teacher and class mates. I am looking forward to the next level of class.

Fantastic experience: I love this place! After I took early retirement I decided I needed to do activities that kept my brain young, and I love learning languages. So I decided upon Spanish because I had recently visited Spain and had been frustrated by my lack of language ability. I have now completed 2 levels of Spanish and I absolutely love it. I just want to keep learning and learning! Both teachers I have had are brilliant, but best of all is the camaraderie of the learning group, students and teacher together, we all love our Wednesday mornings! It most definitely keeps my brain alive. I’ve not yet fully explored the other resources, I want to spend time in the library and rent some books and films to use at home. I also plan to come to some of the cultural sessions which look great fun. Well done Instituto Cervantes, te encanto!

Fantastic experience: I have just completed my second course at the Institute Cervantes and I could not recommend it enough. The teaching style is engaging and effective, making it easy to follow while still challenging. The atmosphere is welcoming and supportive, and just the perfect learning environment. Javier is absolutely incredible and has such a gift of teaching. While the lessons do require you to put in the work and dedicate time to homework, it’s absolutely worth the effort. I’ve seen significant progress in my Spanish skills and feel motivated to keep learning. I would highly recommend these lessons to anyone looking to learn or improve their Spanish. I’m already looking forward to signing up again in January!

Fantastic experience: I've just completed my first semester of a face-to-face course and am thoroughly enjoyed the experience. You are encouraged to speak only in Spanish during the class. It is initially daunting but it is amazing what you can pick up while you are being exposed to the language. I'm looking forward to continuing my learning at the excellent classes. Our teacher, Ana has been excellent and maintained a fun environment which is conducive to learning the language effectively.

Fantastic experience: I have thoroughly enjoyed learning Spanish and can't wait to start A2.2 in January. My teacher was great and clearly explained everything. I was encouraged and challenged both in class and in my homework, which helped me to improve and spurred me on to study more. As a result I have become much more confident in speaking, reading and writing in Spanish. I looked forward to each lesson consolidating what I had previously learnt and to learn and practise new aspects of Spanish. Its great fun, small friendly classes, Ana is a great teacher and classes are well structured. My Spanish has improved in leaps and bounds. I'm signing up for A2:2 in September.

Fantastic experience: I completed two courses at the Instituto Cervantes this year, both with the same instructor (Sonia Murillo) and the same group of students which made for a friendly and fun environment. Sonia made the classes interactive and engaging! I will continue later in September!

Fantastic experience: I have just finished the term studying A1.2 at Cervantes and plan to pick it back up in autumn as I really enjoyed it. The classes were good and Ana was such a great teacher. The only negative I have is that the library books are only available to rent for half the semester.

Despite being an absolute beginner, I felt comfortable and encouraged to participate actively in class discussions and activities. Fantastic experience: I have been studying with Instituto Cervantes Manchester for 1 year to date & just enrolled for the B2.3 class. I was previously studying A level Spanish however I wanted to study & complete the professional & widely accepted DELE course structure/exam route, for my future career. My Spanish language - reading, writing, speaking and listening, is progressing very well, thanks to my outstanding teachers & small class sizes. My teachers keep the class topics current, interesting & lively, with much opportunity to practice speaking in Spanish, which is excellent practical for me. Cervantes Manchester also have vibrant cultural social events, library and dedicated Spanish teachers. I highly recommend Cervantes Manchester, excellent value for money, outstanding teachers who have helped me progress in Spanish language confidently. Plus regular cultural events to enjoy. Manchester is extremely fortunate to have such an Instituto.

Fantastic experience: I have just completed the Elementry level 1 course here, it was excellent, the teacher was really friendly and helpful and made the classes fun and easy to understand. Would highly reccomend it, I have signed up for the elementry level 2 course in a week and cant wait. I knew a couple of workds at most before starting and now have the bug and feel more and more confident trying Spannish words and understand reading so much better. Positive experience: I have studied five courses here since 2022, and they have all been with Ana Palacios and a similar core group of students. The classes have been great, fun and engaging with homework, grammar and practical communication tasks. However the last two courses have been oversubscribed and instead of splitting the group, the institute has proceeded with classes of 15-16, which is a very large group for an adult class and has reduced the quality of the lessons. Most of the other Tuesday classes are groups of 4-8.

Fantastic experience: I recently attended the crash course, 12 hours over two weeks. I had zero Spanish and very apprehensive at taking part. It was a great experience. The teachers were wonderful. The atmosphere was comfortable. The teaching style was just great. I couldn’t believe how much I was able to understand in such a short time. I’m booked on the April beginners’ course and I can’t wait start again. I highly recommend the Instituto and encourage anyone who’s considering it to take the leap. It is so rewarding.

Fantastic experience: Came back to Instituto early last year after a 6 year break, so I'm understandably still a bit rusty. I attended 3 courses over the calendar year 2023, looking forward to moving up to Intermediate level, starting this week. The lecturers and staff are great, now I'm retired I can devote more time to my Spanish studies.

Fantastic experience: As someone who has dabbled in and out of Spanish learning the last few years, I am so happy that I found Instituto Cervantes! I began taking evening classes for adults (16+) in late 2023 and I have already seen my Spanish level increase dramatically. I took the Elementary A.2 and now in 2024, I have moved onto A.3. The class sizes are small between 10 - 15, so we had the chance to speak a lot, and develop a relationship with classmates and the teacher as well. Our teacher (Sergio) was amazing, always making the class fun and engaging, and he moved along at a good pace. The 'instituto cervantes' is served by an excellent and well stocked library so plenty of reading material to choose from! Moreover, it also has Spanish film, dance and reading activities that take place throughout the week. So, whether you are someone who is planning a trip to Latin-America or someone who wants to learn a second language, I highly recommend this school for you! Muchos gracias a todos! Kauri Maher

I would recommend looking at all the Spanish courses and activities on offer, as there always seems to be something going on. I've had an amazing experience, the classes are very interactive, the right group size and our teacher Ana Palacios is the most amazing teacher and brings such a great energy to the class! Fantastic experience: I have completed my first Spanish course at the instituto Cervantes and have really enjoyed my time here, so I have enrolled onto the next course starting in January. I haven't studied Spanish since pre GCSE so it has been good to pick it up again and go back to basics. My teacher Maca has been brilliant and makes the course fun and interesting. It's 2 and a half hours on a Wednesday evening and I look forward to that time in the week. The class itself flies by which is a good sign that it's engaging and enjoyable. I'm hoping Maca does the next course in January because she's a great teacher. I would recommend the school to anyone looking to improve their Spanish as it's the best place to learn by far.

Fantastic experience: Love the Spanish lessons, I met some lovely peole and Ana is fantastic teacher, next classes already booked, thinking of going all the way in terms of learning the language. I had also used it for dancing lessons in the past but stopped when pandemic kicked in and never resumed. Most important for me is the institute leverages both Spanish and Latin American interesting themes, events etc.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic course with fantastic teachers. I have always been envious of others that can speak another language and found it difficult to pluck up the courage to take part in a course. This Spanish course is excellent in making you feel at ease. The classes are small which is nice and you make friends easily, classmates of all backgrounds! My tutor Fernando lives locally and knows lots about Spain and Latin America which really sparks your interest. He always takes time to help! I have already enrolled in next terms course and plan to see out all the courses whilst travelling in between! And excellent instituto!

Fantastic experience: Thoroughly enjoyed the 10 week online course at Cervantes . I did A2.1 Elementary 4. The teacher ( Malena) was very inclusive . It was a great re- cap course as I had some knowledge but not practised past tenses for a few years. Good mix of grammar, listening , reading and various exercises . Signing up for next level !

Fantastic experience: I love coming to Instituto Cervantes so much! After returning to Manchester from two years living in Latin America, I needed my Spanish-world fix, so I signed up for the upper-intermediate Spanish course and a Saturday salsa class. I have really loved both. The course was exactly what I was looking for: the perfect balance of grammar to challenge and push me to the next level, plus entertaining and informative realia. And the salsa has been so much fun and led to multiple nights out on Deansgate afterwards! I have made a lot of friends through both courses too. I am signing up for the next Spanish course and now want to try my hand at tango classes! 100% recommend el Instituto.

Fantastic experience: I have been studying at the Institute for a few years and my Spanish has progressed quite a lot. The teaching is exceptional and the classes are so enjoyable. It is great to have the opportunity to gain insight into Spanish culture and customs as all the teachers are native speakers from Spain or South America. Although it isn't something the Instituto guarantee, I've had the same teacher for each term. The continuity makes a big difference, and we've had a very talented teacher who makes it fun and manages the online set-up brilliantly. I'd happily recommend Instituto Cervantes Manchester to anyone wanting to learn or improve their Spanish.

Both courses been great, really engaging, and I have learnt a lot as well as increasing my confidence in speaking Spanish. I have enjoyed all the different teaching/ learning methods used in the classes and the continual chance to speak and practise. Fantastic experience: We have thoroughly enjoyed our first course (Inicial 1.1) at the Instituto Cervantes. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful. The class that we attended was fun but challenging. Every week we came home knowing that our brains had been given a work out and that we had learned more Spanish!

Fantastic experience: I have been having videoconference classes for a year now with Instituto cervantes Manchester and i have enjoyed every single one of them. The teacher was always giving the attention needed to every student, the lessons were interactive and there was always something new to learn about the language and the culture. Fully recommended!

Fantastic experience: I am evangelical about the Manchester Cervantes Institute! I started the first class with a nervous Hola and have been hand-held and encouraged by professional, dedicated, passionate staff up to Consolidación Superior! Interestingly we have remained mostly the same group of friends throughout the learning passage. We all learn in different ways depending upon our interests and commitments but we enjoy the challenges of learning, the exchanges about our travels & the tapas & glass or two of wine at Xmas & Easter together. It is the most professional & supportive way of learning spanish & enjoying the benefits abroad! My best compliment? A waiter at Ewuna asked me during lunch why did I leave Spain to live and work in Manchester?

My teacher was lovely and always tries to use various teaching methods so that everyone understands, and there is lots of opportunity to practice speaking in a comfortable environment. Fantastic experience: I just finished the A1.1 class and have just signed up for A1.2. The classes were great and supportive. The class is taught mostly in Spanish which really helps you pick up the language faster and Ana who taught our class was very friendly and patient! I would highly recommend if you are looking to learn Spanish.

Positive experience: Level 2.1 intermediate. The class was small and our tutor created a lively environment with lots of spoken exercise. However a lot of the learning and all the homework was based on a very expensive textbook which I couldn't afford on top of the course fee. The copies in el Instituto library were out of date so not useful. Eventually, I got too self-conscious of not having it and stopped attending. I wish I had known in advance that the book was necessary so I could have based my decision to sign up on the full costs involved

Fantastic experience: Great school and professionally run classes in a lovely environment and building, with nice friendly, encouraging teachers - I've been attending classes on and off for a good few years, have made lots of progress and have just returned to re-start an advanced class after having lived in Madrid for 6 years (the classes at Cervantez before going were invaluable!). They also run a lot of cultural events, including showing of a variety of Spanish films on a big screen and workshops. I'd definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: Just completed a course of face-to-face lessons for A1.1 and could not have asked for a better experience. Classes were fun and engaging with plenty of opportunities to practise vocabulary in lessons and there are homework tasks to help too. The interactive element of working in pairs and having class conversations was daunting at first but quickly became one of the best parts of the lessons. The teachers are wonderful and I can’t wait to start the next course.

Fantastic experience: A great place to go and learn Spanish

Fantastic experience: I've taken two online courses so far and I've just signed up for my third. Malena was my most recent teacher and she is amazing! I feel that my speaking has really improved during her course, and we have learned a lot from the textbook, but also from extra content to really improve our Spanish. The course uses a textbook but the use of extra material depends on the teacher. The institute also puts on open days and other events - I take classes online as I live 150 miles away, but I wish I lived closer so I could attend!

Fantastic experience: This is my third year of learning Spanish online at Cervantes Manchester. The quality of teaching is very high and the resources are wide-ranging. Above all, the classes are good fun and I finish each session with a buzzing mind and a smile on my face.

The lessons are very interactive and my teacher Elvira was very knowledgable and a great teacher. If your thinking of learning, this is the best place to start Spanish! I didn’t know any Spanish before starting the course and after 12 weeks feel confident for the next course in April.

Fantastic experience: I have just finished 2 consecutive 12 week courses at Instituto Cervantes in Manchester. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, whilst daunting to immerse in a Spanish only speaking environment, it is very rewarding how quickly you can progress your vocabulary, writing and speaking. The teachers are exceptionally good and fun. I had José for my first semester and Ana P for my second semester, they were both brilliant! I highly recommend Instituto Cervantes to anyone wanting to learn or improve your Spanish.

Fantastic experience: I’ve completed two consecutive Spanish language course at Cervantes and highly recommend the professors and facilities. I started as an absolute beginner and quickly felt relaxed and able to learn at a faster pace than I expected. This is due to the excellent tuition and understanding of the staff. I have been to Spain on holiday since and was amazed at my vocabulary and interaction skills using the spanish language. Cant recommend enough!

Fantastic experience: Just finished my first course (online) here. It's been really great to have the full immersive experience in the classes - we are given lots of time to practice speaking and discussing things in Spanish. Lots of good quality learning material (e.g. worksheets) as well!
