The students I met as well on my first day were really and social. This is a really comfortable and enjoyable environment for learning. I love it!

Negative experience: 1-star review – Absolute disgrace in enforcement – Avoid if you value fairness LILA Liverpool OET Test Centre – Manager (name unknown, but the one who refused entry on 10-Jan-2026)* Date of experience: January 10, 2026 This has to be one of the most inconsistent, petty, and frankly heartless test centre experiences I’ve ever had. Official entry window: 07:30–08:30. I arrived at 08:35 – literally 5 minutes late after what was likely unavoidable travel hassle in Liverpool (public transport). The manager flat-out refused entry. No discussion, no flexibility, just a hard no. Here’s the kicker: The very same centre let me in during my November 2025 attempt when I arrived around 08:45 – 15 minutes past closing. Same venue, same rules (supposedly), but completely different outcome. They happily allowed me to sit the exam then, but suddenly on this day, 5 minutes is a deal-breaker? This is textbook inconsistency and selective rule enforcement. OET’s own regulations state that late arrival may result in denial (it’s at the venue’s discretion), but when the discretion swings wildly based on who’s on shift, it creates false expectations and punishes candidates unfairly. I had a legitimate expectation of leniency based on prior experience at this exact centre. The result? Wasted exam fee, months of intense preparation down the drain, significant financial loss, and massive stress/distress right when healthcare professionals need to focus on passing for registration/visa purposes. The manager showed zero empathy, zero willingness to review CCTV (which would confirm my previous lenient entry), and zero interest in proportionality for a marginal delay. Exams don’t even start bang on time anyway – everyone knows that. If you’re booking OET in Liverpool, think twice about LILA*. Their staff (especially this manager) seem to enjoy power-tripping rather than supporting candidates who have travelled far, paid a fortune, and prepared for months. Avoid this centre if possible – or at least arrive stupidly early to avoid their mood-of-the-day roulette. 1 star because zero isn’t an option. Absolute joke. Would not recommend.

Fantastic experience: Best Place To Be!! Ich war vor über 11 Jahren für einen vierwöchigen Sprachaufenthalt bei LILA und es war die allerbeste Zeit meines Lebens! Nicht nur die Schule und Lehrkräfte waren grosse Klasse, sondern vor allem auch der Spirit in Liverpool hat es mir enorm angetan. An keinem anderen Ort spürte ich je so eine Verbundenheit, geprägt von Liebe, Freundlichkeit und Seele. Ich erlebte in Liverpool sehr viele wunderschöne Überraschungen. Für mich The City Of Wonders. Ich kann die Schule LILA nur weiterempfehlen! Positive experience: Given that my experience at Lila was brief, lasting two weeks, and was undertaken under the specific circumstances I found myself in at that time during the year, my opinion is this: Lila language school is good overall, but I'd say there are several areas where it could definitely improve. Here's a brief summary: 1- type of course and teachers I honestly didn't find any substantial differences between this course and others elsewhere, including English language courses in their own country. Why would a foreign student come to Liverpool, UK, to attend a course that's essentially a copy of what they'd do at a language school in their home country? As for the teachers, they generally seemed knowledgeable and helpful. However, I found myself attending certain classes that I didn't feel were quite in line with what a language course for adults, especially at an upper-intermediate level, should be. Let me explain with some examples: regarding the content, certain exercises, while useful, were perhaps a bit banal for older students who likely already have some knowledge of the foreign language they'd like to improve. Regarding the way the lessons were taught, without wanting to go into the merits of others' work, I had the impression that certain things are designed more to fill time than to add something extra for a deeper understanding of the topics. 2- attendance Maybe I didn't fully understand the rules explained to us on the first day of class, but for example, why do some students arrive to class 10-15 minutes late if the allowed time is only 5 minutes? 3- homestay accomodation Aside from the fact that when offering student accommodations, it should be specified that the bathroom is shared and not reserved for the host. Nonetheless, my knowledge of English, though not advanced, leads me to believe that whenever they say "meals are cooked by the host family," they actually mean dishes prepared by someone, and not, as I have experienced, ready-made meals or meals bought at the supermarket and then reheated at home. 4- social activities Perhaps there could have been some evening activity, like going to see a film at the cinema or a show at the theatre together as a group. As mentioned above, since I believe there is considerable room for improvement, I have taken the liberty of giving this institution or school a rating of three out of five stars.

Negative experience: My experience at Lila, under David Game College doing the foundation course which is called the university foundation program (ufp), was extremely disappointing. The way this place is run shows a complete lack of communication, organization, and responsibility. Students are constantly left confused because no one seems to know what’s going on, and when you ask for help, you’re often ignored or dismissed. Even worse, there’s a real sense of discrimination and unfair treatment — some students are clearly favored while others are treated poorly for no valid reason. It’s disheartening and creates a really toxic environment. There is no accountability from management, and problems are never properly addressed. Instead of supporting students, they make things more stressful and difficult. I would not recommend Lila (David Game College) to anyone. Students deserve respect, fairness, and a proper education — and sadly, you won’t find that here.

Positive experience: My experience with the school is not that bad. Off course it has some negative points in term of studying english and they need to improve such as some teachers don’t have enough qualifications to teach students and need to use a new teaching techniques to deliver the idea to the students , and school should manage students inside clases because some of them using phone and some of them talking too much which effect on other students. In term of administration I faced bad thing which I lose my course fees with them, I tried to settle the issue with many school staff but no body help me. Although this issue happend before and they solve it for the student but for me no. I do not know why??

Negative experience: I have been studying English in this school for 6 months. I will write my experience in objective way as possible as I can. At the beginning this school has wonderful teachers like Lauri and Divad and they have tried to do their best in teaching and supporting students. Moreover, the admin team was supportive and helpful if you would ask them for help. In addition, they had a good teaching method which combined more than English language skill in the class. After the above mentioned positive sides, The drawbacks of this school can be summarised in the following points: 1- Most of language schools have limited benefit and need personal practice. 2- There are some annoying teenagers students , from one of the Gulf countries I wouldn’t specify it , they were misbehaved and disrespectful with teacher and unfortunately teachers couldn’t control classes. In this regard I have spoken to study director and send email of these issues and found no response. 3- The coffee is not allowed in the class which I found it inconvenient for some students. Finally, If you someone ask me to recommend this school, I wouldn’t recommend it for above reasons unless they have taken proper actions.

Fantastic experience: I spent a wonderful month in Liverpool at the Lila English school. It is an experience I highly recommend. Liverpool is a beautiful city, perfect for a study stay. The Lila school is located in the city centre, very close to bars, restaurants, shops and the city's main attractions. The classes are really interesting and the teachers are well qualified. I personally attended the C1 level General English class and the Ielts exam preparation classes. I would especially like to mention teachers Jack, David and Laurie, they are really good and engaging. The staff is very helpful, kind and friendly. The environment in the school is multicultural and inclusive. I also had a very good time in the Benson Yard accomodation, it is a brand new and well equipped facility at a reasonable price. I strongly recommend Lila to everyone!

Fantastic experience: i was there years ago. i remember it being great fun. its a big school with a lot of classes. so they devide it into groupclasses in the morning or afternoon. afternoon classes are perfect for those who like to sleep in. if you prefer morning classes i would announce it in advance in order to make sure you get your preferences met.

Fantastic experience: My experience with Lila was very good. Liverpool wasn't my first choice of destination, but I was surprised with the level of structure and teaching at Lila, considering its costs (in comparison to other destinations). The teachers (Andy, Jack, and David) were friendly and helpful. They really know how to make us involved in class and participate. The infrastructure was also very good, especially compared to the other schools in Liverpool. In terms of location, it's great too. Shops, food (cheap or good restaurants), transport, accommodations, etc, everything you need will be found near Lila. The accommodation which I was allocated to was also great, and the school made effort so I was happy with it. I would also like to send compliments to Jim and the whole office staff, who supported me and made it an unforgettable experience. The downside were the activities. It's not enough advertised among the students (like, one staff member could go around the classes to offer it / adverrise it, or make a whatsapp group to mention interesting activities, etc...). That lead to some empty activity groups (such as a sports day with only 2 people). A friend also said that there was no staff to go along the group in their trip to Anfield. So I think the activities part could be better advertised and get some more atrention, as it's important to practice and help students socialize (lot's of shy people, and even more groups that only speak in their own language with their countrymen, closed groups that are always together). I'm very social, but I didn't make a lot of foreign friends at Lila, as foreigners arent as open to new friendships as brazilians... I think with some sports or activities it could've been different . But this didn't ruin my experience. I believe Lila will keep growing, and I fully support people to choose Lila.
