Fantastic experience: I chose Alliance Française Cambridge to take my DELF B1 exam, in December 2025 and I’m very happy with my experience. Everything was well organised and professional. Communication by email was efficient and clear, and I was well informed in advance about everything I needed for the exam day. On the day all the staff were welcoming, supportive and very nice which really helped reduce exam stress. They even decorated for Christmas in reception which was a nice warm touch. The atmosphere was calm and reassuring, and the examiners were fair and encouraging. I would definitely recommend Alliance Française Cambridge to anyone preparing for or taking an official French exam.

Fantastic experience: My Wife and I are ever grateful as we were stuck and unable to fit in the regular examen sessions. After contacting the exam committee of the Alliance Française, a special session was organised for us. And during all the process leading to the exam day all the necessary information were provided to us with a great accuracy and availability. The day before of the exam, we travelled for about 11hours to reach the exam venue. The staff was polite and welcoming which made our experience very pleasant. I will therefore recommend the AF to anyone seeking to sit a French exam or seeking for French courses. Our regards to the whole team and all the best.

Fantastic experience: I chose Alliance Francaise Cambridge for my TEF Canada exam. From the moment , I reached the site , I knew I came to an auspicious place. The lady at the reception was very polite , and offered me to sit in the Library , where I managed to meditate prior to start my exams. On this occasion, the examiner ,Ms JASMINE conducted methodically all.the exams. Her welcoming smile and reassuring voice made me feel comfortable and ready for my exams. She was very thorough and made sure we used the computers correctly. She is a real asset for Alliance Francaise Cambridge. I can only praise this wonderful site,and must give it 5 out of 5 stars. Fantastic experience: I have attended French classes here on and off for over 5 years and have only great things to say about the Alliance. It will suffice to say that if you live in or around Cambridge, this is the best place for French lessons if you truly want to progress towards fluency.

Fantastic experience: I taught French every Saturday morning for a year at the Alliance Française alongside my studies, and I couldn't be more grateful to the directors for this incredibly rewarding experience. The courses were very well-designed, but I still had the space to experiment with it and build a real connection with my students. It was amazing to see how fast they improved their French, and how much fun we had together. My colleagues were friendly, and the school and gardens beautiful. The kids would go out into garden every hour, which drastically improved their focus. Thank you for your trust Virginie and Patricia !

Fantastic experience: I took a B2 French course once a week for a few months ahead of taking DELF exams. Most of the classes I took were conducted online, while a few were held in person on site, with some students still taking part remotely. In short, this is a superb place to polish your French, with professional and friendly staff who will put you at ease and help you to achieve your goals. The classes are enjoyable, engaging and productive, the teaching is of high quality and the feedback is detailed and helpful. The exam arrangements were also very good. I'm very happy to recommend.

Fantastic experience: I live in London and wanted to write my B2 exam before the end of the year; however, many schools in London were already booked up! Luckily, I reached out to Alliance Française in Cambridge and Jasmine and her team were able to find me a spot! Fantastic experience: I became a student of AF Cambridge in 2005, in my forties. My rusty school level French was resurrected and I improved so much that after a few years in group classes I passed the DELF B2 level exam (advanced - required for French university entrance) and was able to get a job where I needed to speak French (with an international conservation charity). It has also enabled me to communicate with the family of French-speaking friends. In short, it changed my life, very much for the better!

Fantastic experience: In an attempt to polish my archaic schoolboy French I have just finished two beginner courses, A1 & A2, with AF Cambridge. It has been great fun and productive! The teachers are warm, friendly and responsive. The course is well structured and reflects contemporary French life, so one is learning language skills and gleaning nuggets of modern French culture. I am particularly enjoying their film recommendations (thank goodness for subtitles!) and my playlist now sports a francophone lilt. The content balance and its delivery was perfect for me. I would add that the optional homework was useful as it was always corrected with careful explanations. Great course, lovely people, and good value.

Fantastic experience: My daughter is a native French speaker but, due to living abroad since birth, she needs help with reading, spelling and grammar - she enjoys the weekly classes very much and we really appreciate the professionalism of the Alliance Francaise team in Cambridge

Fantastic experience: The Alliance Française is the best place you can go to learn French in Cambridge! It is a safe environment with amazing teachers and staff. Thanks to the social and cultural events, you can learn while having fun and meet people from different nationalities and backgrounds. Do not hesitate anymore to join the adventure!

Fantastic experience: I hated French at school and it was my worst result at age 16. Decades later and, thanks to the AF, I have spent 3 years learning in an enjoyable way, with people of different ages, nationalities and backgrounds. Classes are usually quite small, the teaching staff are French, helpful, highly competent and friendly. Some courses take place in the day, others in the evening. A mix of online and in person lessons. The courses are well planned, for the language courses there are structured books and homework is optional, but advised. The courses on culture enable you to further improve skills in oral French and getting across your point of view. I was nervous before starting at the AF that my skills would be worse than the others, but no need to worry – they are very good at placing you in the right class.

Fantastic experience: Alliance Française is a well-run provider of high quality french language courses suitable for most levels. I spent one year in the C1 examination preparation course and was impressed by the quality of education and support provided. There are cheaper alternatives out there, but for me, having a "real" tutor was essential. My only issue was that there were insufficient numbers of students with my requirements, such that the course is unavailable for the next year. Clearly this isn't an issue with AF Cambridge, hence it doesn't detract from my score which is 5/5. I would just plead with my UK friends to consider learning french and appreciate what can be gained from linguistic fluency (even though I'm not quite there yet) as it enables sampling culture at a far deeper level and really appreciating what doors language skills can open to all, the french included!!

Fantastic experience: I recently enrolled in summer courses with intention to refresh a forgotten knowledge of the French language. Jasmine is a wonderful teacher and helping me with pronunciation of some difficult French words and also with speaking and writing. She's marking my work and gently pointing out where I do mistakes and which part I should focus on. She appreciates effort of every student and have amiable attitude. Alliance de Française is most definitely the right place if you wish to learn French with the professionals who are very helpful.

Fantastic experience: I attended the conversation group in Newnham, Cambridge, last term. I found the group very friendly and supportive and the teacher was excellent. I would highly recommend Alliance Francaise, Cambridge.

Fantastic experience: I took my Canada TEF exam here two weeks ago with Jasmine invigilating my exam who was so kind and helpful. She really reassured me throughout the entire process for which I'm very grateful.

Fantastic experience: I recently took a DELF exam here. The exam arrangements and the facility were both excellent. Jasmine ensured the process went smoothly. There is a cafeteria on-site and plenty of parking (though I arrived by bus - it's only about 200m from Addenbrooke's bus station). Lastly, having previously taken an OU exam that involved a lot of paper on a tiny desk in a Cambridge uni facility, I greatly appreciated having a desk large enough to write on (writing on paper, of course, not on the desk itself).

Fantastic experience: TCF test taken here and I couldn't recommend it more. Jasmine was extremely helpful at every turn and the level of service I received really was excellent. The timings of the TCF exam are far more civilised than the London branch :)

Fantastic experience: It suits me well to have Club de Lecture meetings via Zoom. No matter how far from Cambridge one lives, it's possible to join the group. I would never have discovered the interesting books we study if left to my own devices. The guidance of our kind group leader is much valued, and sometimes he introduces an additional specialist to a session, to provide more information about the text and writer we are studying.

Fantastic experience: Well done Alliance Francaise for helping us keep up our French and for providing interesting cultural activities to ensure we keep in touch and don’t stagnate as a result of restrictions caused by Covid. I especially loved the evening on Zoom when we met Harriet Welty Rochefort, the author of the book , Final Transgression. I had purchased the book and started reading it prior to the event; afterwards I was eager to continue it, although it’s so gripping that now I don’t want to finish it! It was fascinating getting into the mind of the author and a delight to hear how the book came about. Thank you to all involved!

Fantastic experience: I've been attending French courses at AF for more than a year now. It is a really great language school, the groups are the right size and the lessons are always well planned and full of various interesting activities. My professor, Héléna, is one of the best teachers I've ever had, she puts a lot of effort into the classes, makes sure that everyone is involved and explains everything in a clear and fun way. I would strongly recommend AF to anyone interested in learning or improving their French!

Fantastic experience: Really wonderful language school. The homeworks are really flexible so you can do as much as you can or want, and Melody is very supportive. I like the layout that mixes the skills of team exercises and reading and practicing together. The team is very open to you changing depending on your level, highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I have joined recently a course on culture and civilisation at the Alliance Française.It is a very interesting course. In addition to the exposition of aspects of French culture, it provides some revision of grammar and the reading of modern French books. The group is friendly. I am very glad I joined it.

Fantastic experience: Classes continue to be excellent. They’re challenging but interesting, friendly and fun. Everything is now on Zoom, and lessons still work well with everyone getting to practice conversation in 'breakout' rooms. Full disclosure, I'm such a fan that I recently became a trustee.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant teachers and a wonderful community. A small organisation with a big heart that delivers outstanding results. My daughter was delighted to get a 9 at GCSE this year working with AF Cambridge instead of her school. Negative experience: It's results day for the B2 DELF today and the AF (after 2 months) have failed to communicate this to candidates. I spent all day calling them. I could not get through. You'd think they'd be open on results day! No information on the website or answering machine message. Gross incompetence and a lack of professionalism and respect.
