Kaplan International Languages - English School in Bournemouth

Fantastic experience: I studied at Kaplan International Bournemouth for about three months, and it was a great experience. The teachers were friendly and professional, and the lessons helped me improve my English. I was also very happy with the accommodation. The staff were very friendly and always helpful to me. Overall, I highly recommend this school to anyone who wants to learn English.

Fantastic experience: I had a really good time here. All the teachers were kind, and the class was well-intled. Even when I was going through a hard time in the middle, they took care of me a lot, so I was able to complete the completion safely.

Positive experience: I took a language course for about 5 months. The first month was very productive, with good teachers and a class appropriate for my level. However, due to the intensity of the summer term, mixed classes were opened for students aged around 30 and above. Although I am at B2 level, I had to use C1 books, and some of my classmates spoke English almost like native speakers. For a while, I couldn't understand what was being said in class or in the books. Later, I had an ineffective teacher who was only at the school for the summer term, so that month was very unproductive. Then I was moved to another mixed class with people more suitable to my level, and since I got used to the books, I started to have no problems. It is possible to change classes, but it's not always possible right away. Also, there are only 5 books at each level, and they are completed in 10 weeks; if you start at a higher level and take long-term courses, you have to use the same books repeatedly. It’s a very good school if you get a good teacher and are placed in a class appropriate to your level; however, it may not be effective for adult students due to the mixed-class policy.

Fantastic experience: Kaplan is the best institute in Bournemouth. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. I spent three months there, and those were the best months of my life. They focus on explanations, and the teachers are very helpful. Honestly, Kaplan is the best.

I made new friends from different countries, it’s not only a place to learn a new language but also a place to make friends and create social connections. Moreover, it’s a place to learn about new cultures and enjoy different activities that, in my case, I had never tried before. At Kaplan, I was able to improve my communication skills. The teachers at Kaplan are very empathetic and kind. I learned a lot from them.

Negative experience: My stay at Kaplan had a few positives, mainly the teaching of Mr. John Smith, who was professional and supportive. Unfortunately, overall my experience was disappointing. The quality of teaching needs serious improvement. Many teachers are inexperienced, and lessons are poorly organized, especially for beginners. Accommodation was also very poor — most host families were unsuitable, far from the school, and offered little support. When I faced a medical issue, the school did not provide adequate care, and I had to take further steps to resolve it. Social activities were weak and lacked proper planning. They should be more engaging, affordable, and designed to encourage students to practice English and interact with others. Kaplan needs to rebuild trust with students by improving teacher quality, accommodation, and student support. Without these changes, the school risks losing its reputation.

Positive experience: Es war eine nette Zeit durchaus hilfreiche Zeit hier. Man kann die Schule empfehlen. Bei der Gastgeberfamilie sollte man darauf achten, dass der Raum schon eine gewisse Größe hat, dass ein eigener Mülleimer und ein eigener Tisch zum Schreiben vorhanden ist. Die Schreibpulte in der Schule sind zu eng aufeinander, aber den Platz kann man sich ja auswählen. Gut ist, dass man viele andere Menschen aus der ganzen Welt kennen lernt.

Positive experience: The study method is fantastic: light, engaging, and interesting. The teachers are very friendly, as is the staff. The classes have a suitable number of students. The residence was perfect for the space we had; the bed was large, and the bathroom was small but very well-designed. It's a shame about the hygiene and cleanliness, because they could have at least provided brooms and rags for us to clean, since buying them wouldn't have made sense given my stay of only three weeks.

Fantastic experience: I had an amazing stay in Bournemouth. The school is near different cafes and not too far from the center which is good. The people in Kaplan are really nice and the teachers are all really competent. Every day/week there is a new subject which is good if you stay a long time. The IELTS class is really good if you think about writing the exam.

Positive experience: Studying in Kaplan has been a good experience, and I have learned a lot. Each teacher has a different way of teaching, which makes the lessons more interesting and keeps them fresh. The school also organizes many activities that allow students to interact with others and practice English instead of speaking their native languages (avoid speaking in your native language as much as you can). From my point of view, I've achieved my personal goals. I made good progress in three months, but of course it depends on how much time do you spend studying and practicing after class. However if you expect a magic formula to learn a new lenguage without effort, you're in the wrong place. I had no problems with my host family, but if you have any problems Kaplan can help you to change your accommodation. The only reason I wouldn't give a 5-star rating is that I think they should introduce stricter rules about student's behavior in class; using phones and how many times students can leave the classroom.
