Fantastic experience: Are you looking to improve your English? If yes, Westbourne Academy is a great choice! Located close to Bournemouth City center, the school is of a reasonable size compared to other huge ones that can feel more like a factory rather than a place where people will accompany you and help you to learn which is the case at Westbourne. I stayed for three months and really enjoyed my time here. The staff and teachers especially were great. I am very thankful for everything they thought me. Moreover there is a real attention to homestays and could not have ask for a better one! You will also find a variety of activities to do for fun such as trips to different cities, beach volley games or short classes to further improve your English. The highlight of my stay was meeting amazing people from all over the world and sharing this experience with them.

Positive experience: Seldom do we see such kindness, excellent staff, good location, what I liked the most is the close monitoring they do of the progress of each student, they make test exam every week, and they monitor your progress, personally I would have liked to have a microwave in the cafeteria, but we have asked and they have denied our request. Aside from this, the school is wonderful.

Fantastic experience: I have been there 7 years ago. It was an amazing experience. I have been in different language schools in London as well but my experience at Westbourne Academy was different. Teachers were really supportive and encouraged me to do better. I passed IELTS with 7.5 and started to do my MSc in London. This is a very late thank you message but I wanted to share. Special thanks to Mr.Kemp and Mr. Jacob.

Negative experience: The school taught me a lot and gave me a solid foundation to move on. Thank you teachers for this. However, the reputation of the school rests only on the teachers, some of whom do their job with passion and lead the lessons with enthusiasm. Personally, I felt the meanness of some people from the school leadership. Be careful when you smile sweetly, hanging noodles on your ears that you need to retake the same course, although the exam results say otherwise. And also be prepared for the fact that if you study at the expense of state programs, then you will be delicately hinted about this if you disagree with something.

Fantastic experience: I spent one month in Bournemouth during the last summer holidays. Even though it was my first experience abroad , i didn't have any problem to fit in ; I really appreciated the teachers attitude , extremely friendly and focused on the student needs. My host family (Linda and Martin) was incredibly welcoming, caring and always available to give me advices on my stay in the UK. I made a lot of friends from different nationalities and this helped me to open my mind discovering new cultures and lifestyles. Moreover Bournemouth is a lovely place, characterized by a spring climate and rich of clubs frequented by young people. To sum up , I recommend this experience to someone whose desire is to learn english and have fun at the same time.

Fantastic experience: Westbourne academy is a very caring and helpful school not just for the students but for their homestay Families. They will always be there to help the students if they have a problem and there is an out- of -hours phone which they can use . On the first day of school all the students have a test to make sure they are in the right group for there ability. Each student are given information about the school and the local area and any numbers which the school thinks they might need . The school now has rubber bands System for each of the Younger age groups 14-15 age group and the other for 16-17 age group . They must wear them all the time so if they need help or get lost when out and about they have the number to hand. I hope this helps new students to come to Westbourne Academy

I have always found them to be, very professional, caring and supportive towards their students and host families. Fantastic experience: Right from day 1 of teaching at WA I was made to feel like a member of its family. The other more experienced teachers were supportive and gave great advice. The management listened to my opinions about course books or needs for training and acted on them. This ensured I felt supported and fully equipped to teach. The students are from all over the world and are often here to improve their English for work. So they are usually very hard working and work hard to attend their lessons. Furthermore I was impressed by the level of inclusion and understanding of diverse faiths in the school. By allowing Muslim students to go pray on a Friday and providing space for prayer. Additionally despite being small the school provides a lift and wheelchair access and even makes allowances for specific needs. Whether they be physical or learning needs. Teachers have the opportunity to join in on activities and as a result create strong memories with their students. I just love all the inclusion. And how it does feel like a big family. Teachers, staff and students all feel comfortable enough to laugh and joke with each other and that is rarely found in other schools.

Negative experience: I disagree to go to this school. I spent one year and strongly recommend to choose another better school. The tuition is cheap but quality is same as the price. The highest class teacher almost couldn’t answer the questions about the grammar. One teacher who looks like the head of teachers always talks out of the top of his head. I saw several times teachers offered an insult to students when they were late for the class. Teacher and reception don’t make a harmony. Please invest your precious time and money to an another better school.

Positive experience: السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته بديت الدراسة في المعهد في نهاية الصيفيه تقريبا وكانت مدتي شهرين والمعهد بشكل عام ممتاز ويظهر الإحترام للطلاب المسلمين سواء فترة صلاة الجمعه او إعطاء المسلمين اجازة لليوم اللاحق لعيد الاضحى ومعلمينه غالبهم ممتازين وبعضهم لا وانت وحظك والمشكله في كثرت العرب خاصة المستويات المبتدئة بعضها كلهم عرب من السعودية وعمان والكويت يعني الاجنبي الوحيد المعلم وطالب واحد او طالبين وهذا غالب المعاهد لكن الفايده تعتمد على الطالب واجتهاده وننصح بعدم السفر في الصيفية قدر المستطاع وبخصوص الحصص الاضافية ما انصح بها لانها متعبه ومافيها فايده تذكر وبإمكانك تاخذ معلم خصوصي من خارج المعهد والوقت اللي يناسبك واما المدينة فهي جمييله جدا جدا ومناسبه للطلاب والعوائل وآمنه بإذن الله ولي عوده لها ان شاء الله . هذا ما شاهدت واتمنى التوفيق للجميع دنيا وآخره.

The location of the school in Bournemouth is central so you may reach town or beach by foot in 5 to 15 minutes. You can choose your own setting of learning concerning the amount of lessons per week and the fact either to be taught in class or in a one to one situation with a teacher for your own. Fantastic experience: É muito difícil falar objetivamente quando você gosta de uma coisa, então irei descrever minha experiência e indicar pontos que podem melhorar. - Em meu país meu nível de inglês é intermediário (B2 atestado pelo TOEFL) e atualmente faço preparativo para TOEFL iBT. Mas quis ser muito honesta em dizer que tinha muita dificuldade de falar inglês e isso acontecia porque meu curso de inglês é online (MyEnglishOnline). Como esperado, tive um bom resultado na prova de nivelamento, mas eles optaram me colocar na classe elementary (A2). Acredito que por eu escrevi na ficha que tinha dificuldade em falar. No começo fiquei triste, mas os professores para classe elementar estão mais dispostos a ensinar você falar e era o que eu estava precisando no momento. Dessa forma, mantive a mente aberta, Mas é importante falar que sempre buscaram a minha opinião e foi minha opção continuar na elementary; - No começo foi difícil ter que ouvir o tempo inteiro em inglês. Minha mente pegava algumas palavras e frases soltas e caia na maluquice de traduzir. Chegou ao ponto que foi impossível manter esse comportamento então tentei pensar em inglês. Ótimo, passei entender o que as pessoas falavam comigo. Mas aí veio a complicação de não lembrar as palavras em inglês para falar com as pessoas. Construir frases era um parto. Não conseguia nomear nem um GARFO em inglês. Depois de algum tempo de adaptação em ter 90% dos dias em inglês e 10% árabe (isso porque a escola tem muitos estudantes árabes e, por mais que seja proibido você falar sua língua materna, os estudantes árabes falam de qualquer jeito), a empolgação com o curso passou e manter a mente otimista foi difícil. Mais aí veio fato da minha homestay ter um professor. Ele ajudou muito e acredito que na reunião semanal falou que alguns alunos tinham mais conhecimentos que outros e fui trocada de classe junto com outros alunos. Ainda era no papel elementary, mas com pinceladas de intermediário. Além disso, os professores passaram exigir escrita e fala. Isso me deixou extremamente feliz porque o curso deixou de ser muito fácil. - A equipe é muito atenciosa, prestativa e entende que a escola tem gente de vários níveis de inglês. Eles tentam ao máximo te entender e te ajudam no que for preciso. Há uma tentativa muito grande para que os alunos se envolvam em diversas atividades para interagir, conhecer outras pessoas e aprender o idioma em atividades extras curriculares. Procurei fazer os passeios para outras cidades e algumas atividades na escola. - Também gostei do prédio. É antigo, adaptado, mas as salas são confortáveis, quentinhas e bem iluminadas. Porém, não é adaptada para cadeirantes, o que eu achei muito estranho. Eu gostaria que o Listen Center tivesse computador ao invés de tocador de CD e que fosse um pouco maior. É meio chato ficar nele. - Gostei muito do segundo livro utilizado para as aulas (Outcomes) e não gostei do primeiro (Headway). Mas os professores não se limitaram aos livros e faziam várias atividades durante as aulas para estimular o uso da língua inglesa. Variar as atividades deixavam as aulas menos monótonas. - Gataria muito de ajudar meus colegas árabes numa questão: que eles entendessem o significado da palavra ESTUDANTE. Estudante não significa férias, nem passatempo e nem falar da cultura árabe o tempo todo. Estudante é um ser que estuda (no nosso caso a língua inglesa), faz as tarefas de classe e de casa (e copia do coleguinha). Então seria interessante que eles estudassem. Fica a dica ;) - A cafeteria também atende as expectativas. Almocei lá todos os dias e foi agradável - Por ultimo, mas não menos importante foi minha Homestay. Adorei os dois. Principalmente porque passaram comigo todo o período de adaptação e foram muito solícitos. Não tenho que reclamar do tratamento, da comida ou da limpeza. Fizeram até Kapsa (comida árabe) pra mim só porque perguntei se eles já tinham comido. Aposto que teriam feito feijoada se fosse uma comida mais fácil de fazer. -Enfim, foi uma ótima experiência e espero voltar em breve para certificação de proficiência.

Fantastic experience: Where shall I start? Well, at the beginning: Even though I had already been to England before, I felt a bit lost when I arrived at the airport with all the people rushing past. However, this feeling vanished quickly when I arrived at my homestay family. I was welcomed with a warm smile, a cup of tea and a chat including many funny anecdotes. While they gave me the opportunity to become member of the family as far as I wanted to become one, they also always granted me my privacy. After such a wonderful start, I went to school with quite high expectations and at the end of the day, I am glad to say that they weren't belied. All the teachers were very friendly, enthusiastic and always ready to give some advice. With the typical pinch of British humour and this big-family-atmosphere, the lessons didn't feel like school at all. Only the afternoon classes could become a bit tiring since everybody was looking forward to the beach rather than spending a sunny day indoors with English Grammar. Since the school is located in Westbourne and thus close to Bournemouth, it only takes about 15 minutes to get to the town centre and enjoy a nice afternoon with your friends and classmates. Of course, there was also the opportunity to take part in the school's social activities such as film evenings, bowling, laserquest or quiz evenings. And of course those who took their studies very seriously or wanted to take an exam weren't disappointed. Apart from discussion evenings, the school provides a listening centre for everyone to use. All in all, I can only say that my time at Westbourne Academy was a wonderful experience which I will never forget.

Fantastic experience: The time I studied here was so valuable and I won’t forget this experience in my life which helped me to have a broad perspective and improve my English :) It was just a few months but I learned a lot. In the class or in the break time, there are always good opportunities to make friends from all over the world and learn their cultures. There are school excursions as well, so I went a trip to Oxford and it was great. Teachers are good. Each teacher has different style of teaching but in most times I thought they are professional and enthusiastic. They are always trying to help us not only for English but also for the ‘British life’ so me and my friend found it really helpful and still feel grateful!! ❤️ I don’t regret my choice at all. I’ve made great memories thanks to Westbourne Academy.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Westbourne Academy. I've finished the courses a few days ago. Teachers are so kind and friendly. They always try to help us. The school doesn't have a huge building or something, but it is better. Because all of us know each other (like real friend!!) and every teacher knows our name. What a great atmosphere in WA :) I am extremely grateful to all of the teachers and staffs in reception for their help(or everything). It was fantastic that the way to understand and listen to students. The result of their effort, now I can understand many different cultures and different accents, etc. I cannot forget the experience in WA. Not just for learning language. It would be the most memorable time in my life.

Fantastic experience: The teachers bring the lessons to life and try to give different explanations when I am not certain about a topic. They see where the difficulties are and provide useful help. As a result I feel confident in doing the advanced examination. Furthermore, there is a variety of leisure activities available to participate. Wether you want to do something directly after school or at the weekend, there are opportunities several times a week. The school is also good located, since everything you need is nearby. Not to forget the food in the cafeteria is thoroughly delicious. I would really reccommend this language school!

Negative experience: The most racist teacher , spent whole of lectures time talk about history or bad things to the students.. and you can see in his ugly face alot of lies , ego , gloom and animosity and this will reflect to us the sadness, depression, madness and maybe death His name is Rod kemp .. and the google refused to upload his picture, I think because he is so ugly

Positive experience: - I spent there 14 weeks in summer, I started as pre-intermediate level and finish with upper intermediate - Before I came to this school, I have searched and I found I lot of comments and students and they said it is the best school they every had , and one of the best thing it has a strict role to the attendance and distribution language speakers in percentages in classes and doesn't put them in same class but this was in the past,I think before the new owner. - Imagine , in beginning class , all of the students were had same language except one guy ! And the students were speaking their language in front of the teacher !How they will teach them ! In intermediate class, you may find Arabic and Turkish people only ! .. or if you are in high levels German or swiss people only ..and every nationality will stay with each other . - The school focus how to earn the money, it doesn't matter for them the benefits to students .. - The school activities it is not useful and boring and most of school students don't come to it! , it isn't like other schools - The teaching style focus in grammar and vocabulary,while speaking depend in your boldness .. and rarely writing classes -Extra-classes is useless and waste of time and money..NEVER EVER THINK TO JOINT IT ( I think it called : English plus) -Also there is one teacher, he is the most racist I have ever seen in UK and also he makes jokes if someone said something wrong .. and he waste all of the time to talk about history of UK instead of teaching us .. and I made complain to administration and he still teach .. you can find alot of comments here talk about the racist teacher .. and the school will reply to my comment and ask about the teacher to make show they care about us :) - Also , my teacher asked the administration to change one of my classmate level ,because he deserved the next level.. but they refused because they don't have spaces in the next level !! My classmate was angry and sad of wasting his money ..Imagine if they put you with lower level , how much of knowledge you will get ?! EARNING is the goal . - (((The most useful thing I had is my homestay and I spent most of my time with them .. they treated me as a member of their family .. you must search and try to get good family .. otherwise you wont learn a lot ! - I want to mention , the best nationality I have met there are swiss people and belgium ,, there accent is clear and very very friendly people .. (( After Arabic poele :) )) - finally , the best thing is the price it is little bet cheap in my opinion , and you will learn the langauge outside of schools .. so it isnt big deal especially who has good langauge because you will practice it more outside even if you are in the best schools Have a good trip and good luck with your language قعدت ١٤ أسبوع في الصيف المعهد قبل ما اختاره قرأت الكثير من المدح والثناء لشدته وتعامل أساتذته وعدم جعل ناطقي لغة معينة في فصل واحد .. في فترتي فصل المبتدئين كان كله عرب عدا أجنبي فقط . والانترميديت ( المتوسط ) كان عرب واتراك فقط أعتقد هذا من ماضي المدرسة حيث تغيرت ملكيتها خلال آخر ثلاث سنوات طريقة التدريس توحي بأن المدرس يريد انهاء وقته بأسرع وقت وغير مبالي بتعليم المهارات ،فقط التركيز على القواعد والكلمات .. لا وجود لمهارة الكتابة ولا الاستماع ، والنطق حسب جرأتك الأنشطة الطلابية مملة وغير فعالة ، أغلب الطلاب ما يشاركون يوجد مدرس عنصري خاصة ضد العرب ، يضيع وقت الدرس في الحديث عن تاريخ بريطانيا وتهزيء الطلاب بطريقة وقحة ! الادارة غير متفاعلة مرة وهمها المال ، وأحيانا يرفضون تغيير مستواك بحجة أنه لا توجد مقاعد في المستوى الأعلى ضاربين بالاهتمام بتعليم الطالب عرض الحائط أكثر شيء أفادني البيت اللي سكنت معه ، ومهما كان معهدك لازم تركز على العائلة تراها أهم ، لأني صرت أقعد معهم ولا أطلع من البيت لأستفيد أكثر الفائدة الأكبر في الاختلاط الخارجي مع المجتمع والأحاديث مع المشردين والذين يجلسون في الحدائق وحيدون .. فلذلك المدرسة ما تفرق كثير للي لغتهم جيدة .. أما المبتدئ فأنا أنصح يدرس القواعد الأساسية قبل ما يجي لأنه بيكون الأمر تضييع للوقت والمال ... مجرد التفكير بالمعيشة لعدة أشهر بلغة صفرية أمر غير مجدي موفقون يارب ورحلة سعيدة . أخوكم من السعودية .

Fantastic experience: I learned a lot about the English language in this school. The teachers were always nice and June from the café was lovely :))

Fantastic experience: The Westbourne Academy in Bournemouth is an absolutely great place to learn English. The lessons are very helpful to improve your language skills and also every teacher has their own learning methods which make the lessons diversified. In addition to this are the teachers lovely people who always try to answer your questions and they practise with you for the exam. Sometimes you get tips from the teachers for travelling in the UK and we had a lot of fun in the lessons when we talked about the different behaviour between the Britains and another cultures. Moreover the office and the reception are so friendly and kind. If you have a problem or questions they always find a solution and give you always a smile. Don´t worry if you travel alone to Bournemouth because you will meet very quickly new friends and enjoy together the big offer of activities from the school, for example international evenings, sports and discovery. Furthermore is to be noted that I was very welcome in the school every day and you have the oppurtunity to practise for yourself in the listening center with more school stuff. In my opinion I can recommend you to attend the WA in Bournemouth because you will get a nice experience to learn English and have a fantastic time here as well and that is the reason why I would come back every time.

Fantastic experience: I loved studying here and I felt very comfortable in the school. Lunch breaks were always fun and the good nationality mix creates a family-like atmosphere. If you are a student at WA you should participate in the social activities and excursions the school offers. The area is beautiful - in winter and summer (I stayed 4 months). I was well prepared for my CAE exam as we had a lot of practise during lessons. I really recommend studying English here.

Negative experience: I wouldn't Advice Any One Because The Staff very Miserable Unhelpful At Tall Just After Your Money. Be Carfully with payment Don't pay them fully of Price The Other ways Will struggle You This is Happening To One Of My Friend.

Fantastic experience: This academy is good for me, staffs are kind and expert, teachers are good at teaching. While I was studying and staying, I was happy :D
