Fantastic experience: I participated in this program for a month. It was a wonderful experience, especially because the teachers make you feel at home. I would like to thank Emy because her lessons, which focused on communication, helped me significantly improve my English, especially in work contexts. I left a piece of my heart in Edinburgh.

Positive experience: Sono andata la prima volta in questa scuola ormai 2 anni fa e mi sono trovata sin da subito bene. Le lezioni erano divertenti e ho capito che per imparare una lingua non bisogna solo imparare liste di verbi a memoria ma anzi tramite i giochi le cose ti restano meglio impresse. Mi sono trovata bene con tutti i professori specialmente Emy, è molto disponibile, brava in ciò che fa e innovativa. Rifarei questa esperienza di nuovo e per questo la consiglio.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend this school. Keith is a super nice person always happy to help, if you have any questions just ask him. Emy is a charismatic teacher, she can draw your attention to focus on what she teaching, you won’t feel bored in her class also she’s very good at courage everyone speaks, after many times to speak your opinion, discussing with your classmates, you’re no longer fear of using English. David’s class helped me speaking in grammatically correct English and he taught us how to smoothly speak long sentences. I met many friends there, now they are just like my brother and sister, although they are already back at their home I still miss them so much because we had a great memory at this school.

Negative experience: This school offers comparatively cheap courses and homestays. However appealing this might be to any potential learner, the money is just down the drain. The majority of homestays are located in Edinburgh's low-income and dangerous neighbourhoods. Especially for female solo travellers, it is advisable to search for accommodation themselves. Even worse, the resulting problems are well known within the school and are often discussed during lessons, with students comparing who can tell worse stories about their homestay or neighbourhood. Furthermore, most teachers do not plan or prepare their lessons. Something is randomly copied out of a book five minutes in advance, especially students who stay longer will do many exercises multiple times. Due to the lack of planning, there is no noticeable increase in skills and course levels over time. Some students do improve, but studying at home with other resources is imperative. This school might be a fair deal for short stays with independent accommodation, but that's about it. For students aiming to obtain a higher level of English beyond everyday speaking or those wanting to sit an exam, I strongly recommend looking at other schools.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend TLI for the quality, attentiveness and professionalism of its teachers. The atmosphere among the students was friendly. The teacher, Emily, was particularly dynamic, available and kind.

Positive experience: Se state valutando l’idea di venire in questa scuola dovete considerare che non ci sono attività extra scolastiche, l’istituto non è un granché e non verrete molto seguiti. Non c’è organizzazione, quindi dovete organizzarvi da soli per come occupare il tempo libero. Vi consiglio un programma base in cui poi magari potrete integrare qualche lezione aggiuntiva. Considero, però, la mia esperienza alla TLI positiva grazie all’aiuto e al supporto che ho ricevuto da Emy che è stata una professoressa esemplare, mi ha aiutato, è stata la mia referente durante il soggiorno e mi ha fornito dei preziosi consigli: come comportarsi con l’host, posti dove mangiare, cose da vedere. È stata un vero riferimento durante la mia permanenza a Edimburgo. Se non ci fosse stata lei credo che l’esperienza sarebbe stata decisamente negativa. Una menzione speciale anche alle lezioni di Gregg che sono sempre state di alto livello.

Fantastic experience: una scuola fantastica ho passato una bella esperienza all'interno di questo istituto, penso di essere migliorata molto nella lingua e sono sicura che lhanno prossimo tornerò qui. I professori molto gentili e coinvolgenti, super disponibile. devo dire le lezioni sono state molto divertenti, parlo in particolare di Emy che mi é stata molto accanto e mi ha aiutata molto, super gentile e disponibile anche con gli altri studenti. I oltre le sue lezioni erano praticolarmente arrive e divertenti.

Positive experience: I want to express my gratitude to The Language Institute. It is an exceptional school where I learned more than just English. The teachers - Emy, David, Rebecca, Meg, and others - helped me develop various skills focused on speaking and pronunciation. These skills included giving public speeches, using body language while speaking in grammatically correct English, and learning modern real-life situation vocabulary. I am thankful to everyone there. The atmosphere is completely relaxed, and you don't feel ashamed to express yourself in the language because of the good vibes.

Fantastic experience: Ho collaborato con The Language Institute a Edimburgo due volte grazie ad un progetto di soggiorno studio all’estero per i miei studenti di prima superiore. Mi sono trovata molto bene: il personale è molto cortese e attento, i docenti sono preparati e super coinvolgenti nelle attività che propongono agli studenti ! La scuola è nuova e le aule molto luminose . Cioè che ho apprezzato molto, oltre a quanto detto, è la disponibilità del personale della scuola ad ascoltare le necessità e/o problemi del mio gruppo di docenti e studenti. Questo credo sia la base di una buona ed efficace condivisione di un’esperienza che diversamente, non sarebbe stata così arricchente. Super consigliato!!

Fantastic experience: I am happy that I decided to study English at this school. An incredible friendly and safe place. I studied at school for a total of 5 months and met so many great people who became my friends. Emy, Meg and David taught me English. Emy is very empathetic and her lessons are modern and fun. Meg is a very nice person and in their lessons she tries to make the students talk and gain confidence. And David is an incredible professional, he has been teaching for many years and does his job really well. Thank you to the entire TLI team!

Fantastic experience: My experience at school was very good. Emy's classes are very interactive and fun, there is space to practice all skills: speaking, writing, listening and reading. In each class you can see the preparation and effort to make it an entertaining lesson. Also Meg's classes: she was really interested in you learning and that we would get to know more about the culture of Scotland. And David's classes were very good, he has a lot of experience as a teacher and his classes were very complete, friendly and enjoyable.

Fantastic experience: I was at this school for six months and I can really recommend it. My classes were never boring and I learned a lot. Emy taught me English but also to be confident and this has helped me with my work. Meg was always kind and serious. Great school and I hope to go back one day.

Fantastic experience: Very good School. We recommend!!

Negative experience: Classes are done informally and they don't prepare you to pass an English exam. It's mainly speaking all the time, with little emphasis on theory, no writing exercises, and not much correction on pronunciation. I could say the classes are just for "passing the time." Another aspect I'd like to point out is that even though the course was supposed to last two weeks from Saturday to Saturday, I asked if it was possible to pay for an extra night in the accommodation since my flight was in the early hours of Sunday to Monday, and I needed one more night. The response from the school was simply a flat "no," without any concern or attempt to help me find alternative accommodation for that night. I find it regrettable that when I mentioned the situation to the school director, Mr. Hamish, he put on a show as if he would try to find something and call me back. However, that call never happened, neither with a positive nor a negative response. This clearly shows their strong focus on money and lack of concern for their students and customers. I could understand the hypothetical situation where it was completely impossible to find a place for me to sleep for just one night in any of the numerous homestays the school offers because they were all full. In that case, I would understand without any problem. However, the real situation was different. In my own homestay, there were six beds, and the family told me that three new students were coming, and it was IMPOSSIBLE for me to stay. The numbers don't add up. If I hadn't had the money or the knowledge to find another place, would I have had to sleep on the streets? As far as the concern and help provided by Mr. Director Hamish are concerned, the answer would have been affirmative Las clases se hacen a menas pero no te preparan para aprobar un examen de inglés. Simplemente es speaking todo el tiempo, no enfatizado en la teoría, no se hacen writting, ni te corrigen mucho en la pronunciación. Podría decir que las clases son simplemente para "echar el rato". Otro aspecto que me gustaría exponer es el hecho de que aún sabiendo que la duración del curso era dos semanas de sábado a sábado, pregunté y pedí si era posible pagar una noche extra en el alojamiento puesto que mi vuelo era la madrugada del domingo al lunes y necesitaba una noche más. La respuesta tanto por parte de la escuela fue que no, sin preocuparse absolutamente de nada más, nadie se interesó ni intento ayudarme a buscar un alojamiento para esa noche. Me parece lamentable que al comentarle la situación al director de la escuela, el señor Hamish, hizo el "teatro" de que iba a intentar buscar algo y que me llamaría. Llamada que nunca existió, ni para una respuesta afirmativa ni negativa. Quedando demostrado el gran gusto por el dinero y la poca preocupación por sus alumnos y clientes. Podría entender la hipotetica situación de que fuera totalmente imposible buscarme una sitio para dormir una sola noche en alguna de los numerosos homestays que dispone la escuela porque estuvieran todos llenos, en está situación lo entendería sin ningún tipo de problema. Lo que ocurre es que la situación real era distinta. En mi propio homestay había 6 camas y la familia me comentó que venían 3 nuevos estudiantes y que era IMPOSIBLE que me quedara. Las cuentas no salen. ¿Si no hubiera tenido dinero o los conocimientos para buscar otro sitio hubiera dormido en la calle? En lo que respecta a la preocupación y la ayuda prestada por el señor director Hamish, la repuesta hubiera sido afirmativa. .

Fantastic experience: If you are looking for a school that teaches english in Edinburgh I highly recommend TLI. I'm 25 years old and I studied there for 7 weeks and it was an enriching experience. The staff are extremely friendly and very caring. I arrived with a B2 level and at the end of my stay I passed my IELTS exam with a score of 7.5 (C1) Advantages : + The school isn't too large and therefore friendly (5 classrooms) + Lessons are interesting, varied and motivating. + Teachers are highly skilled and involed in their teaching + The school is flexible and accommodating + Small kitchen with free coffe, tea and sometimes pastries + Personal advice from the staff (things to do or not to do in Edinburgh, best pubs for a wee dram, noteworthy monuments to visit, etc) Disadvantage : - The location is quite off-center, about 30 minutes from the city-center by public transport. Do not hesitate to contact them for any further questions.

Negative experience: I didn't have a good experience with them. Suggesting to stay away from The Language Institute. Edit: I don't think they plan space or staff in advance. It was pretty settled on the go, so it was kind of ad hoc based.

Positive experience: المعلمين و الادارة كانوا لطيفين ولكن كتعليم سيئين ولا في اي خطة تعليمية و راح تضيع معهم ما انصح اي شخص يدرس عندهم

Fantastic experience: A very positive experience. You will be in a very friendly environment that allow you to learn the language with enthusiasm. Teachers besides being very skilled, they have the ability to explain the topics very clearly and dynamically, making the lessons always very interesting. They are very available if you need some advice or information.

Negative experience: Lessons were very boring and the teachers failed to make us concentrate for more than 5 minutes. One of them also didn’t allow us to leave class after it was over. Very bad experience overall. Cheers to J and M tho!

Negative experience: Por motivos del Covid no pude viajar y hacer el curso previsto. Como faltaban dos semanas para ello me dijeron que me devolverían el dinero y todavía sigo sin cobrar nada de un curso que no he podido disfrutar. Se han quedado el dinero de una formación que no han dado y solo hacen que darme largas y ninguna solución. Muy poco profesionales

Fantastic experience: I totally recommend the school. I spent 2 months with a General English + Exam Preparation course. The teachers are amazing, very close to the students. In class, they practise all the skills for the lenguage: speaking, listening, grammar and reading. The location is convenient (next to a bus and train station) and they have a kitchen with coffee and tea for the break

Fantastic experience: my son arrived yesterday at this fantastic school. Highly recommended, because they are attentive and helpful and solve any problem. My son had lost his wallet on the bus when he arrived and he was left with no money and documents, and Mr. Hamish immediately supported us at any time to reassure us by providing all the necessary support. He even found the wallet, going personally to the lost property office. The best school my son has ever attended. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: I have been studing in TLI for 1 month, and the classes were great. All the teachers were very kind and fun, especially Meg and Oisin. We combined all kind of lessons, including grammar, vocabulary, speaking, listenting and exam preparation. The school is in a beautiful building located in the city center, close to parks and places to have luch or a beer... I truly recommend TLI to take an english course, prepare for any certificatation or just to learn english while getting to know new people.
